I went kayaking last weekend in April Weather was good Very little boat traffic which makes the paddle very stress free Anyhow lake was bigger than I thought I talked to a homeowner who was fixing his dock He said the lake is busy& like a zoo when summer comes Aslo a lot of million dollar homes along the shore which in my view hurts the lake beauty

This is a county park on the shores of lake norman.Beautiful vistas of the lake and paved trails for hiking with views of the lake are some of the highlights. Also has tennis courts and is a great place for picnics with many site lakefront.Park is free on weekdays a entrance fee is charged on weekends. Also a great place for walking the dog or just relaxing.

There is only swimming access on the very north side of the Lake (at the state park). Don't get fooled by places advertising close to the beach. These are tanning beaches only!

While Lake Norman is best experienced on some type of water craft the views from the shoreline are excellent. If you enjoy watching others cruise by on boats and jet skis you won't be disappointed. You might even see an occasional sailboat or kayak. They also have several public boat ramps but they are extremely busy when the weather is cooperating.

We go to Lake Norman all the time. My hubby like to fish but I like to just hang out. Its never too crowded. The only this I wish is there were more marinas that cater to boaters (food, grocery etc).

Beautiful lake, expansive, large lake, great for boating/sailing. We love living here! Scenery is beautiful 9 months a year, dockside restaurants amd gorgeous homes dot the shoreline.

Any time we visit a park on Lake Norman, we have a wonderful time. It’s a beautiful lake with wonderful sunsets. I highly recommend Jetton Park & Lake Norman State Park.

A good place to get information about the Cornelius/Huntersville/Davidson/Lake Norman area. They have guides, maps and brochures similar to what you would expect at a visitor center. There was also a section with guides and brochures for other NC/Sc cities of interest to tourists, such as Wilmington, Raleigh and Charleston. When we visited there were a number of friendly employees present who all offered their help.

I spent a week in August in a condo at Vineyard Point Marina and Tennis Resort, with tickets to the PGA Championship outside Charlotte. Our group was surprised to find that Lake Norman, despite its size, is not your typical family resort area. There are only two beaches on a lake with 535 miles of shoreline, one at Lake Norman State Park and one in cornelius. Boat rentals are basically limited to pontoon boats. The steamboat at Queens Landing is appartently the only tour boat on the lake. The usual touristy things like minigolf, parasailing and themed attractions are in short supply. Its a fairly upscale, residential lake, with lots of restaurants and shopping areas. If you're looking for Myrtle Beach or Pigeon Forge type of a family setting, this is probably not it.
