Oh no! It's gone!

We stopped here last summer on vacation and it was a great stop. We pulled into the lot this summer to find it closed and up for sale! So sad! :-(

This was once the best race shop to visit. It was designed with visitors in mind. BUT Michael Waltrip racing went out of business at the end of the last NASCAR season.

My fiancee and I happened to be in the Comfort Inn across the street. We enjoyed the displays in the large lobby and then went upstairs to view the working race shop from large windows. Then we took a free tour outside to see the haulers and where the pit crew practices. We finished inside another building where they were... More

The financier split with Waltrip and the other drivers. Contract said the facility could not be sold to another race team. That means a 100+ employees are out of a job. It was well run with daily tours that were very informative and nice gift shop. We will miss you Michael Waltrip.

I really enjoyed my visit. Lots of things to see from Michael Waltrip's career. The race shop was the best part.

We knew we would pass MWR first heading to JGR, then Stewart-Haas and then Hendrick. Since it will be closing and I've read how great it is for fans we did stop here. There is a tour that we did not have the time to wait for and I'm not sure if it was free. Either way, we were able... More

If you are only going to visit one race shop in the Charlotte area, be sure it is MWR!! Hands down the best of the shop tours!! The fan access to the work area is fantastic. You walk on elevated platforms and are able to look down on the work floor. They also have placards that explain what you are... More

OK, I am not an avid Nascar fan. However, I did enjoy this facility. It was interesting even for me. They allow you to see the activities down in the workshops with videos to explain what is going on. They will sell parts of cars, tires, sheet metal, and clothes. The staff was very friendly. It is easy to park... More

And it's FREE!! An amazing garage, built with the fan in mind. MWR has catered to his fans with a garage tour given by Dean R who is very entertaining. Well worth investing your time to visit! Mikey! You done good! Thank you!

Awesome race shop. Dean was a great tour guide! You can see so much here. Everyone was very nice. I would go back. Must see if you are in the area and it is free ☺
