About
Our vineyard and winery rest below the beautiful St. Anna Chapel, which is a part of the Eastern Diocese of the Russian Church Outside of Russia. Visitors to Russian Chapel Hills Winery will perhaps be most delighted at being able to visit an authentic, 17th century stile Russian chapel. It is our heritage. You are welcome to discover a new experience in our estate winery.

Attentive and welcoming host. Good wines. Pleasant experience.

After reading about chapel brought over form Russia located on wineries property I was intrigued to pursue this as a place to visit. Chapel is historic. Services and weddings are still conducted in chapel. Not only did the chapel have an interest to me, I wanted to visit winery's tasting room, retail store. We were greeted from moment we arrived by a welcoming, hospitable host. We did a wine tasting & found their signature wine, Kagor to be our favorite. We purchased several bottles of Kagor. Our experience was enjoyable mostly by the conversation we shared with the host. And finding a good wine to buy.

Good wine tasting experience, good wines.

We selected the wine tasting with 4 pours, ea of which was generous. The 4th of our selection was the Russian wine Kagor, which was very good. We walked out to visit the chapel, and then came back and enjoyed a gloss of wine on the deck. All of the wines we tasted were quite good, and we purchased 3 bottles.
Our visit was on a Friday fall afternoon, and we were lucky to have a limited amount of visitors during that time. We enjoyed talking with Andrey M-he takes great pride in the Winery and what he has created, and rightly so.

We had a wonderful afternoon visit and enjoyed the well crafted wine, scenery and music. Well Done and not crowded which is a big plus these days.

Wines were good, tasting experience less than exciting
May 2019 • Friends
I've heard about this place and was expecting to have a great experience. We were the only ones there upon arrival and the it was like we put a coin in the machine and it ran without any excitement. We asked several questions about the property and kept having to ask just to get a response. The person serving us seem to have a passion about the wine, but just wanted us to taste and be done. Others came in during our visit and the owner (I believe) interacted with the Russian guests. We were not offer to tour property or even given a suggestion to stay and enjoy a glass. We weren't even asked if there was something we would like to take home. Disappointing $12 tasting for a pinch of wine; most other tastings offer a bit more that a quick sip.

Good morning, and thank you very much for visiting the winery. I am sorry that your experience was less than excellent. It is our goal to ensure each client's full satisfaction. Please call the winery to receive a refund on the fee, and receive a free tasting for the next visit. I would love to invite you for a reservation-only tour of the wine cellar. Due to limited staff, we are only able to offer the tour by advance reservations. Our Chapel is always open. I hope you find time to visit our winery as a guest of the owner to fully enjoy the excellent offerings of wine. Andrey Medvedev

The owner takes pride in his winery and loves his visitors

A great Russian gentleman owns the quaint little winery and took our group on a walk through the vines and inside his personally built chapel. Then on to tasting some very good wines. I believe our entire group enjoyed the visit.

Great wine and service

Went to several wineries in the area and none of them compared to the hospitality and wine quality of Russian Chapel Hills. Will definitely come back to this one any time we are in town!

We love to visit local wineries and some serve what the grow others a mix but this one serves only what they grow. We like that. Daniel knows his stuff and served ya several amazing wines. Not the prettiest place but we were there for the wine and the passion these growers have for their product. Left with a couple bottles and armed with more wine knowledge.

Unusal Experience
Sep 2018 • Friends
We saw the Grape Stomp and Art Festival and thought it would be fun. We paid for 6 people and convinced friends to join us. The website said 1-4pm, however, it was poorly organized! At 2pm, it appeared they were still setting up. There was one person to provide wine sampling and there was a long line. After waiting, the person was very distracted and the pours were so small you could barely taste it. One of our friends asked to resample one of the wines and it was frowned upon. We didn't say more than an hour because there was nothing else to do. We never saw the grape stomp and there was NO one to even help or direct you. I will say the wines were good, the pairing with cheese was interesting and the vineyards are beautiful. They are pet friendly and that is always appreciated so the whole family can enjoy. It was a very expensive day!

A Hidden Treasure
Aug 2018
For our 40th wedding anniversary I took my wife on a wine tasting excursion in the Tryon region on North Carolina. After experiencing several other wineries in the area, we were delighted to stumble upon Russian Chapel Hills Winery. This tiny place stuck back off the road, offered the best of all the wines we had tasted. While they host wine grown regionally there in their vineyard, they also have wine specially imported by the owner from vineyards he personally knows in Europe. We bought a mixed case of wine from here and have not been disappointed with a single bottle. Also, there is a special treat for those willing to take the short drive or longer walk to the Russian Chapel that was hand-built on site. It is an authentic, registered Russian Chapel and open for prayer. It is extraordinarily beautiful and peaceful. Indeed a holy place.

Nice day trip from Spartanburg for a Wine Tasting
Jul 2018 • Family
Located just south of Lake Lure in Great Smoky Mountains, the Staff here are friendly, accommodating and efficient with an excellent presentation of a wide variety of wines. We prepared for the wine tasting by taking a short walk to St. Anne's Chapel of the Eastern Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russian. We found the wines to be anything but orthodox! (Read quite interesting!) The Rose' and Chardonnay were excellent, Sauvignon Blanc not dry enough for me, but I did come away with a nice Cabernet Franc 2015 and a Chambourcin 2014. We came prepared as this is a BYO on cheeses, charcuterie and other amenities. Very relaxing atmosphere. Very enjoyable afternoon for our group of 13. Slightly larger groups could be easily accommodated here.
