I’m just obsessed with the Broad River! It’s so beautiful and enchanting. This short & sweet, free (we had no interest in paying the fees to access Chimney Rock State Park), easy-access trail along the river runs right behind the Chimney Rock village shops & restaurants and allows for a very picturesque stroll. My son loved hopping around from rock to rock. There are huge boulders everywhere to really explore! You can’t miss this spot, especially if you have kids!

Pack some snacks and juice boxes and when your kids are absolutely done following you in and out of the shops...head to the river! There is a pathway to walk along side it and huge rocks to climb on. The water is usually freezing which makes it all the more fun for the kids to get their feet wet. It's a lovely way to relax and not spend any money in a place where everything costs something! :-)

This is one of my favorite places to visit when in the area. There are nice paths to walk and enjoy the beautiful river. There are also some great photo spots and places to put your feet in and cool off on a hot summer day. Take the time to enjoy this walk if visiting the area. You will not be sorry.

Easy and short path along the riverfront. Huge boulders and rocks you can walk out on. Great place for pictures. Be sure to grab lunch at one of the restaurants that have a deck overlooking the river.

Chimney Rock is a busy little tourist town filled with a state park, shops and restaurants and someone had good sense enough to create this "river access" for tourists as well. When I hear "river walk" I think of a boardwalk or wide paved sidewalks. I would not call this a "river walk." There is a wide, rock filled stream where you can sit on the rocks or wade in and get your feet wet. There is not a paved path or boardwalk. There are just little paths down to the water from the street where you can climb on the rocks, sit and dangle your feet, or play in the water. You can't really 'stroll" along the river without climbing around and over the rocks. It was refreshing on a hot day and it was pretty. Not handicapped accessible as you would think a "walk" would be.

This is not a hiking spot, but just a nice meandering stroll along the banks of the river behind some of the Chimney Rock shops. It only takes a few minutes to walk the length of the River Walk, but do yourself a favor and sit down on one of the big rocks and just watch the water flow by. It's soothing and peaceful. When you've finished taking in the serenity, return to the shops and be relieved of some of your money. Oh, c'mon! All that money is just weighing you down anyway.

After hiking up Chimney Rock, we checked out the gift stores which are mainly a bug tourist trap, then noticed this "River Walk." After buying an over-priced chocolate frosty, we're talkin' $4.00 !! for just a regular cone (should have asked how much before ordering or would have changed our minds), we did the very short walk along the river. Nothing spectacular, but nice getting off the busy street.

We walked along this trail after we got ice cream. It was ok. I didn't see anything spectacular. There was some not so scenic stuff along the trail that washed up the river. Lots of rocks to walk on.

The Chimney Rock/Lake Lure area in North Carolina is very beautiful, and when we visited the area recently, we had a chance to take a walk along the river that runs through the village of Chimney Rock. So relaxing! The area is very shady and the water is cold and clear. You can just sit quietly and listen to the water as it meanders through the rocks, or you can walk along its banks and look at the different types of rocks in the area. If you know what to look for, the creek beds carry a variety of precious gemstones too! A beautiful place to enjoy what North Carolina mountains offer.

Peaceful and strong! Those are two words I would use to describe our time here. It was breath taking. How can water rushing over rocks bring such peace in the midst of all the chaos.
