I have always found that many state parks throughout the US are often overlooked little gems. This park is no exception. The views are spectacular from the main overlook and there is a very special feeling experienced overlooking the chimney rock rail where old glory flies high! A must see for 12 bucks. Can take an elevator or walk the... More

We rented a cabin in Lake Lure, NC for Thanksgiving and decided to visit Chimney Rock while we were there. The views were amazing and we all had a great time trying to find our cabin. If you love nature trails, you could certainly make a day of your visit to Chimney Rock.

We were in Asheville for the fall colors in October 2014. We enjoyed many of the local attractions and decided to try Chimney Rock. It's a nice place to take the family. Everyone can enjoy this park. They filmed "Last of the Mohicans" here and you can understand why. The cliffs above the rock are pretty spectacular making for some... More

Decided to check out Biltmore for the holidays and stopped at Chimney Rock on our way home. It's about a 25 minute drive from the Biltmore area....mostly because the road is very curvy and rural with low speed limits on it. Use caution when driving up the mountain to the parking lot (2 way traffic on a curvy road.)...We used... More

Beautiful state park, trails, waterfalls and the Chimney Rock itself. They made it convenient for disabled people to go up to the top of the rock also, by providing an elevator inside the rock itself..amazing!

We stopped here one afternoon. We took the elevator to the rock. Walked the rest of the way onto the Rock. Beautiful views and you can see Lake Lure from here. (According to AAA Book where Dirty Dancing was filmed) We also walked the trails to the Hickory Run Falls. Pretty falls. Hard to get a good angle to take... More

We loved that we could bring our dogs with us on the hikes we did at chimney rock state park. The climb to chimney rock was great and the hickory nut falls trail was a easy to moderate trail with a great waterfall.

So much beauty in one place! Our little dog came along & 1/2 way up the stairs, I was regretting it a bit & wishing I could've taken the elevator but it was worth the climb!! The hike to the waterfall was just as breathtaking. Don't miss this place if you can spare the $$! It's well kept, clean, &... More

I wasn't overly impressed. Maybe it was because I just left Great Smoky Mountain National Park and saw truly amazing sights. If I had come here and only here I may have felt a little different. It cost $12 to get in (my 2 year old was free). It's usually $15 but due to ice they closed several trails, including... More

Unless you want to walk 26 floors worth of steps, take the elevator. Once you are at the top the view is beautiful. I would suggest checking the weather forecast because if it is a hazy day you may not see much. We rented a cabin right across from the Rock and there were days when the valley was completely...
