Smokemont Riding Stables is located within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park just off US 441, 6 miles north of Cherokee, North Carolina. We offer guided horseback riding trips from one hour to 4 hours long. Each ride is unique and may feature river crossing or waterfall views. We also have a horse drawn wagon ride that goes along the Oconaluftee River on the historic turnpike road.

Our families had a great ride. We had 5 kids and three adults. Three of the kids had never ridden before and loved it. Horses seemed well cared for. Very scenic. Highly recommend!!

We went for a short trail ride (one hour). The horses were in excellent condition and very well mannered. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Despite the short ride we got to see some beautiful scenery. We had a great time. Would definitely recommend.

I believe they can,, we didn't have any young children with us so I am not certain, but they are quick to email you back or call the number on their website. It was an awesome experience- we had a great time.

I am not certain but they did have a place for unloading for people bringing their own horses. If you were to call they should be able to tell you. I would say if yes be certain you really know your horses capabilities... More
