Check out the program as there are always presentations as well as the museum part. Easy to get to in center city Charlotte on the edge of the art district on Tryon. Public transportation and nearby parking garage. Beautiful gift shop. I live close and...More

I had family visiting from NY and wanted to take them here. My nieces and nephews were very excited to have experience such great history being displayed. The host and everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. Will definitely return as they have different exhibits.

Three exhibits and a couple of art collections were available for view. Most of our time was spent in the Questions for Black Males digital exhibit. Men questioned and answered some of the stereotypical questions on the minds of black males. They also reached into...More

The building itself is beautiful, and apparently they change out the exhibits fairly regularly. The three exhibits that we saw in December were very interesting and thought-provoking. Doesn't require as much time as some of the larger art museums, which makes this a nice stop...More

We have a tradition of bringing our expanded family on outings in the Charlotte area every year over the holidays. After Christmas I brought my parents, siblings, and all of our kids to the center. The exhibits were interesting and conscious-raising. The staff were welcoming...More

While in Charlotte, I stopped by the Harvey B Gantt museum. The large building sits on the corner. There were three exhibits showcased — civil rights pictures in a dark room in which cool glasses with lights were provided by the front desk; different generations...More

Were just visiting friends in the area and decided to have a quick look round Charlotte, $5 entry each only for this interesting centre. Some great artwork and photography and a video/audio exhibition gave us a good couple of hours entertainment

This museum is housed in a very modern building and it rotates exhibits on a fairly regular basis. We saw a photography one on oppression and another featuring black men sharing their thought on what it is to be black. Both very interesting!

This gallery is located in a beautiful building, but it doesn't have much to offer. There are only two floors and only one has an exhibit, which is totally dark where you have to use a flashlight to see the works.
