Nature-based fun and learning awaits in every corner of Discovery Place Nature. Little ones can get close to wildlife and walk among free-flying butterflies in Butterfly Pavilion, observe live animals in Creature Cavern, buzz by Insect Alley, hang out in Our Big Backyard, walk the Paw Paw Nature Trail in the 100-year-old forest or go wild in Fort Wild.

This is a delightful small museum to visit with children. It's planned for kids from 3 to 7, but has activities that are fun and accessible even for 1-year-olds and kids a bit older than 7. The outdoor play area is simply wonderful - very...More

One of our favorites. I used to bring my grand daughter here a lot. She loved seeing the snakes and butterflies and petting the tarantula. A must stop if visiting or living in Charlotte

Building is run down, nature trail feels like overgrown prison yard with a rickety chain link enclosure. A few live animals. 3-5 year old kids is target audience. Highlight is the butterfly enclosure.

A great spot with exhibits geared towards children. We enjoyed the live animals and exhibits but the outdoor area is more for the mini-adult than us! Bring your kids. Not that expensive either.

Two Butterflies only. My friend and I went the The Charlotte Nature Museum specifically to experience the Butterfly Pavilion. Nice, small museum tucked away in Charlotte. Pleasant atmosphere, many friendly and helpful volunteers. Plenty of activities and exhibits for children. Could spend about 2 hours here.

There are many indoor displays, not so many outdoors, but lots of play and discovery areas outside, picnic area, interactive and fun for ages to about 8yrs. Lots to enjoy, hope you'll try it.
