Nice place for kids

We visited the place during Covid-19 times so we were extra careful but we enjoyed it with two kida below 10 years old.

Very cool
Apr 2021 • Family
Our first stop for a quick family vacation to Charlotte because it came highly recommended for kids. Definitely very cool, but also very $. For the 4 of us, it was around $70 and we saw and experienced everything in 90 minutes. If we lived closer, I could see the benefits of a membership with the changing exhibitions.

The should be ashamed to charge full price for a limited experience!
Nov 2020
We went on November 7th 2020. It was our second time bringing the grandchildren here. We brought my son here when he was a child. I know things are different now because of Covid but they should be ashamed to charge full price for what they are offering.

A lot of the rooms don't have people or supplies in them. I could give you multiple examples but one would be where Ozobots were. They were all broken, except for one and they markers had dried out tips and there was no one supporting the room and it was dirty.

About a fourth of the activities weren't available for use due to Covid even though they seemed to have no more touch points than the other activities.

They have no main feature or attraction right now. about six months ago it was dinosaurs and in a few months it will be AI.

Overall if you want to spend an hour somewhere with your kids it's worth about five bucks not the nearly twenty they charge plus parking. I would wait until this place goes back to what it used to be before I spend my money. Shame on them!

Eduacational Fun for Adults & Kids

The exhibits tend to be more sub-teen oriented. Rainforest critters are very cool. The IMAX Dome is really the highlight.
Saw the Dinosaurs of Anatartica film which was excellent!

Educate and Stimulate
Feb 2020
I was trying to check into the IMAX theater since my family had tickets for a show but were told "IMAX hasn't been working all day" when we checked in. Regardless, Discover place is an awesome, hands on experience for all ages. Adults typically "go for the kids" but are just as involved as the kids. There are a ton of exhibits that engaged the brain and educate while playing.

There is food served in the Discovery Place and it is okay but there are tons of food options just out the door. When we go we try to take lunch time as an opportunity to take a break, walk outside and grab a bite and come back to enjoy more.

Family of Four. Everyone had fun!
Feb 2020
Kids of all ages enjoyed this museum. We went for the Antarctic Exhibit recently and my girls (2 & 4) loved it. They're also big fans of the toddler play area (water table, light pegs, blocks, and so much more). There's a cafe on the mail floor for food/snacks. They change things up enough that going a few times a year still feels fresh. We've taken many family members that come to visit. The biggest fans so far were my teenage nieces (15 and 13). The 15 year old just wanted to stay there all day. Lots to see and do, and the kids - and adults - walk away learning something new.

1st Science Museum visit for Kids
Dec 2019 • Family
1st time in Charlotte with the family(5). We had a blast fyi. Charlotte is beautiful. The kids really enjoyed there 1st science museum visit and all the interactive stuff they offer, kept them busy and engaged. Thanks for that. The staff were friendly and informative. Good energy at this place. If you want to burn off a few hours of your children's ENDLESS ENERGY in doors (was raining all day) this is the place. Thanks

Sweat it out in the rain forest
Dec 2019
Mostly aimed at kids, and with tons of hands-on exhibits, there is plenty to occupy and educate kids of all ages. There’s a daily schedule of short demos, lectures, and class activities, as well as one or two different IMAX presentations (separate fee). With wide aisles set up for class-sized tour groups the museum is clearly aimed at being an educational resource for the surrounding school districts. The human body exhibits are particularly interesting, leading to “ooooh” responses as you read about body fluids and digestion – kids will love it. Prepare to break out into a sweat in the impressive rain forest exhibit. There’s also a science-oriented gift shop and a small snack bar available. Parking at the garage structure next door was easy, but -- ouch! 12 bucks a day even if you stay only a couple of hours at the museum.
