What a fun place! To think that NASA astronauts were instructed in celestial navigation there, and to see the great programming still occurring at Morehead - what a wonderful place!! We enjoyed the evening skies presentation, and would recommend it to anyone visiting UNC-CH.

The Morehead Planetarium is the largest full dome planetarium in the southeast US. It's located on the UNC campus. In the 60s and 70s it provided training for astronauts for the Mercury, Apollo, Gemini, and Skylab programs and many of the astronauts that walked on the moon. The building also contains a science center, the UNC visitors center, and a... More

I was very impressed by the Planetarium. I learned more in an hour than I though possible. The presentation was smart and funny. It is impressive to be in the same place astronauts have trained.

I first visited Morehead Planetarium back in 1987. a little known fact: The Astronauts trained for their lunar missions here. They have shows for all ages and interests are scientifically stimulating and a good price for the shows. I took all 4 of my children and when guests visit it is always on our list of things to do.

If you're in the area this is a wonderful experience for kids or adults. Great 360 degree movies in the dome. A lot of interesting information on space and other things related to the earth.

Enjoyed the cool inside with my 2 teenage boys. Saw wild weather in solar system. Friendly employees. Very few other exhibits.

Had the worst experience with the Director of the Science in the Summer Program. The Director failed to send out emails, has poorly trained staff, unclear policies, and is extremely rude and argumentative. Very POOR choice of leadership for someone in this position. So disappointed with this program.

As a stargazer myself I could not wait to take my children when they were young to the planetarium and now I am taking my grandchildren. It is amazing and educational at the same time. It is one of most favorite places to go. I have gone on so many occasions.

What a lovely way to spend an hour or two on a hot afternoon. Bring a sweater--the air conditioning is cold! The planetarium shows are all excellent.
