I have been going to Fred Bond since my children were in their early teens (they're in their 40's now). Using the parcourse trail, walking our dog the 2 miles around the lake and through the wooded trails. Watching the eagle fish at the far end of the lake, and the kids fish from the dam. For an in-town park, surrounding by homes in the middle of Cary, it is a great place to go.

We went on a family picnic after work with children, active boys, parents and grandparents. There was enough picnic benches, a beautiful lake- plenty of grounds for various sports activities and if your children are youngsters a play park for them. Everyone was tired and happy leaving the park later in the evening.
We brought our own picnic dinner but would suggest at a concession stand some healthy snacks etc

Your kids will love the playground. You will love the peacefulness of the water and the waterfowl. Great place to hike or have an outdoor meeting. The ice cream bars in the little snack shop were awesome too.

Something for everyone. We biked the trail through the park, it would be great for running, rollerblading or just strolling. Unfortunate the boat rentals are closed due to covid but understand. Shaded, wildlife and well maintained.

We frequent Bond Park several times every week throughout the year, almost always with our dog, Sunny for her morning walk. There are several nice trails that loop around so you don't have to back track on your walk. We oftentimes take the trail around the lake that is, with some exception, in the shade. There are several picnic table areas, paddle boats and canoes. This is a real gem for our town of Cary.

We enjoy this park on a daily basis. The trail around the lake is about 2 miles and is rough in some parts, so not good for strollers. I wish more people would follow the leash law and not let their dogs off leash! There are a lot of Pokemon Go stops along the trail. When special events do not need extra parking, there is a large field for running around in or tossing a Frisbee. The boat house has paddleboats and canoes, a nice picnic shelter and bathrooms and ducks waiting to be fed. playground, ball fields, near the senior center and a community center. Arrive early for best Spring Daze parking, or use Cary bus for direct access.

Bond Park is connected with the Cary Greenway, which allows residents to walk or bike to or thru the park. The loop around the lake is a fun walk/hike, with some up and down rougher parts of the trail. The park has ball parks, senior center, outdoor theatre, and a community center. You can rent canoes and boats. For those who like pickleball the community center offers pick-up games. Great place to visit!

We have visited here numerous times and always enjoy the trail around the lake. It is muddy in spots in the spring, so expect your shoes to get dirty. However, it is an incredibly relaxing and pleasant hike, not very strenuous. I would not recommend trying to take a stroller.

This park, known as "Fred G. Bond Metro Park", is one of the largest municipal parks in the Town of Cary of North Carolina. This park has a Community Center, a Senior Citizen Center, a very big Lake, Fishing spots and watercraft.
It is learnt that this park is named in honor and memory of Fred.G. Bond, former Mayor (1971-83) of Town of Cary.
The Community Center provides quality recreation programs for the entire family members which includes Summer & Teen Adventure Camps, Track-Out Camps, Dance programs and Fitness 7 Wellness Programs
This place is more of a picnic spot to enjoy the lovely greenery area round the part and around the lake. Boat rides are added attraction. we loved.our ride in the lake. We paid about $7 for half an hour ride for four persons.
If you are a visitor to Cary, you can visit this park and have a ride in the lake.

Can people swim in the lake at Bond Park? I've been told by others that you can so I was wondering if it's true. I know that dogs can but what about people?

Hello,
This is not true, you are not allowed to swim in the lake, however dogs are allowed to go in the water. If you have anymore questions I will answer them as soon as possible. Sincerely, Alex

Can a dog on a leash take a cool-off dip at the edge of the lake? Looking for a place in Cary where dogs can cool off on hot summer days.

Yes. There are a few areas where you can do this to the right of the main area and along the levy across from the docks. Also, there are some places at Crabtree lake, both at the main park and also at the entrance off Weston Boulevard going toward Umstead park.

Are there camera monitoring the park and is there security?

I’ve not seen monitoring cameras anywhere in the park. The area is staffed by park employees but they do not patrol the park; however, the park is very safe and I’ve never witnessed any negative activities.
