Krave is my new favorite place in Chapel Hill. I like it just as much for the ambiance and people as for the products themselves. Of course the kava, ketum, and yerba mate are incredible--even if you could find those products elsewhere, they wouldn't be nearly as good as Krave's. But what really keeps me coming back is the atmosphere. The bar area has a very relaxing and inviting feel; and the regulars are cool, interesting people. My favorite area is the lounge, which will have you feeling on cloud nine whether you are drinking or not. The lounge really takes relaxation to the next level.

The employees are all very knowledgeable about their products and can talk your ear off about the benefits. Josh and Liz are the best, they really want you to understand what you're getting into and actually care about your story and preferences. But what's great is that you can get into the Krave vibe without taking a sip of their drinks, though they certainly do help.

All in all, Krave epitomizes the good feels that permeate Carrboro. Visiting is a must whether you are new in town or have lived there your whole life. Once you try it, you will likely be hooked (not in a bad way).

For all the first timers: try their signature drink, the Krush. It's expensive but you will understand what all the hype over kava and ketum is about. Great alternative to alcohol and other, less legal, drugs.

You have not lived until you have visited. Please come and try the wonderful non-alcoholic beverages the fine people here have to offer. Expect friendly knowledgeable patrons quietly Wi-Fi ing away in peace. The Krave is an intergalactic place. Think Star Wars cantina, Luke. Don't believe me? Come and visit, the Kava will change you, too.

Full of interesting people involved in various projects. Nice place to strike up a conversation and get a bar vibe minus the alcohol. For an introvert who doesn't drink, it's a good way to relax in the company of people who have something to say.

So based on my everyday encounters I am going to assume, that most of you reading this are not too familiar with Kava or Kratum. When I go here I usually order Kratum. For those of you "not in the know" the alkaloids of this plant interact with the mu- opioid receptor, so after a couple of teas expect a sensation similar to Vicodin/ morphine. Like any psychoactive drug there are some pros and cons when drinking this stuff. Pros: relaxation and euphoria that lasts for up to 4 hours, deadens pain (like opiates), less calories than booze (and less hard on your liver), it's not addictive (like opiates), and it's completely legal (other than in the state of Indiana). Cons: constipation if you drink multiple days in a row (sort of like when you are on a opiate painkiller prescription), possible nausea (I do not always get nauseous. I would say it's about 50/ 50), and just like drinking alcohol you shouldn't drive or operate heavy machinery. They also serve Kava here which is what they consider the main event. It's basically a tranquilizer. Personally, I would rather have the euphoria from the Kratum, but if you are edgy, it would probably help ya out. This place is great for those poor souls under 21, but over 18 who want to enjoy a legal mood altering experience. Their atmosphere is very conducive to relaxation and like any bar it is a great place to hang out.

For those looking for a relaxing alternative to alcohol, might I recommend kava. I had never heard of kava until I set foot in Krave and now I drink it like water. A meditative environment, hospitable staff, and unique beverage choices have insured I become a regular.

This bar serves kava, ketum tea, a mix of the two (krush), and yerba mate. The staff are personable, create a friendly environment, and tend to remember names. Decor is definitely different, and it is a surprisingly good place to both get work done and to relax from work.

The wait for our local kava bar was definitely worth it! There is no better place to sit, relax, and just plain enjoy being in Carrboro/Chapel Hill. The amazing staff attracts a friendly clientele. Make sure you check out the bathroom!

I'm crushing on the Krush. Great chill environment. Music matches the chill environment, too. Awesome decor. I usually don't mention this; but, even the bathroom is cool - the bathroom is, like, TikiHut inspired.

I come and study here nearly every day. The atmosphere is very chill, the servers are very friendly, and the drinks are pretty cool. I'd recommend starting off with the Krush, although I mostly just drink the tea nowadays.

I tried kava and kratom for the first time here! And I've kept coming back. It's a great spot to hangout with friends. The atmosphere is suitably tropical featuring an impressive hand-built bamboo bar.
it's easy to see how much care has gone to bringing kava to Carrboro and the surrounding triangle. Your missing out if you don't try it! They take very good care of new comers.
