This is a most inhospitable town.ll after 4 mile hike in the nearby State Park, where a mumber of trails were under water, we thought we would take a walk on the 1/4 mile Carolina Beach boardwalk. Well, would you believe that this town requires that, to park anywhere, you have to have a smart phone, must obtain the town app, transfer money from your bank account to the app, and then pay to park by using phone app.

It's only a few blocks long and everything is not opened (post- season) if you are in the area for a nice brisk walk this is a good stop for you. Certainly no Jersey boardwalk.

I was expecting some alternative type shoes-airbrush store- just more beach front items. It is beautiful as far as the ocean front decks and swings.. The Ferris wheel wasn’t running

I would not have sought out the boardwalk had we not stayed at the hotel right beside it. But it was cute and quaint, especially the swings. We enjoyed them. It has a nice atmosphere. There are several restaurants & attractions. We wanted to eat at the Nauti Dog but it was closed on that particular day. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is the fact that there is a bit of a problem with people squatting in the picnic-like shelters on the boardwalk during the day. Two men were drunk & fighting and another group of people were fighting. They were back in the same spot every single day and sat there all day (we could see easily from our balcony) which leads me to believe this probably happens regularly.

Having grown up going to the boardwalks along the Jersey shore I was a little underwhelmed by the "boardwalk" here. It was clean, but that's about all the props I can give it. Small, with limited shops and minimal rides, The shops that are there had good food and selection though they seemed tired and worn.

What a clean boardwalk. There were family friendly shops. Also some rides. Options for dessert, a hotdog shop. For us it was convenient to be close to our hotel. We also got to see fireworks.

Very disappointing. The beach was nice. The swings were nice. The restaurants, shops and restrooms were run down, closed and dirty. The amusement park looked like it’s been closed for 15 years.

If you can walk to this place you should. As there is little parking around the area, we paid $35 to park for 2 hours, which seems typical of the other lots near by. The ticket for the rides were a little over priced $25 for 18 tickets plus $5 for using a card to pay. Most rides were 3-4 tickets per ride, if you are going to do rides it's probably worth the $35 pp to purchase the unlimited pass. There are fireworks once a week (Thursday last week) at 9:00 that last about 10 minutes. There are eats around such as pizza, funnel cakes, donuts, ice cream, etc. The atmosphere is very much fair like and family friendly.

This town is all about legal extortion. You think you are parking in a city lot- the signage certainly is deceiving - which costs $40 per day because it is private. The city clearly wants you to believe this, they are probably getting a kickback. Then after paying this exorbitant fee, you get a ticket - even if you pay digitally and have all the proof you need. So more time water fighting a bogus charge by the city …seems suspicious. Then the police have unmarked cars pulling over tourists for minor infractions- like a Ford 150!!!

Save yourself the stress and go to any other beach town but this one

Majority of the small shops carried a lot of the same items. A few ice cream shops, not much variety.
