This area is predominantly bars/restaurants and small shops. Only a couple of places open on a Monday morning in February. Probably would be hopping in summer, or even on weekends in winter.

What they are trying to do with the boardwalk is nice. And I can imagine during summer it would be very busy. But visiting in May we found a lot of things closed. It is touristy. That is number one thing to remember so if...More

Access to various hotels, restaurants, plenty of beach access, handicap accessible. After Thanksgiving you can see all the Christmas lights on the boardwalk.

Not much was open on the rainy dreary day we rode over to Carolina beach, but the beach was still pretty and the boardwalk is very nice. I imagine in the summer this place is really busy

Carolina Beach is our new favorite weekend getaway. We really enjoy walking on the boardwalk and visiting the shops and restaurants. This is a really cool town and it is very comfortable. We are here for the holidays and all the lights are really cool.

Quite small which is not necessarily a bad thing, but just about everything was shut when we visited in September.

There are benches that face the dunes or just switch the seat and you face the boardwalk. Love the swings, also

This seemed different than other boardwalks in that it wasn't along the beach like most others. I saw a couple "rows" of shops off the beach - before the beach access walkway. It wasn't very much so you probably found it.

Things are a bit slower in the late fall and winter on the boardwalk. There are still several restaurants and locations for drinks and spirits still open. I am not sure about events.
