Nice beach with shells, views of other islands and mainland but too many folks with dogs that they let off their leashes. You may think your dog is great but those of us walking and running on the beach do not know your dog and do not know that they are gentle souls. Not usually afraid of labs, etc. but... More

This is well run state park. The visitor center is well-kept and has interesting exhibits.Carolina Beach State Park is bounded on two sides by water one side is snows cut which connects the intracoastal waterway to the Cape fear River. On the adjoining side is the Cape Fear River itself. There are plenty of good spots to fish from the... More

This is a great place..took my dog hiking. We loved the Sugarloaf overlook. The other overlook (forgot what the name is) unfortunately you can't get to because the bridge is basically not there. And you don't know this until you've hiked all the way out there so kinda disappointed.. should be a sign that it's closed. Otherwise great park.

We went here to fish, walk and decide if we wanted to camp here in the spring. We tent camp and don't require electricity. However, the sites we camp in need to be easy to get to because my husband has limited mobility. We have decided to return for camping. We liked the wooded campsites. To look on the maps,... More

We loved our stay at one of the "primitive" camp sites. We would have loved it even more without the loud road noise throughout the night. The bath houses were nice, the camp sites were spaced well, and the trails were fun. We will definitely return with hopes of not being woke with ambulance sirens.

We enjoyed the guided hike at the state park. Our guide, Adrian, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned about pitcher plants, fly traps, and trees. He did very well with a range of questions from our group, and then pointed out additional trails for us to continue our hike after the tour was over. The land is very flat... More

Lots of birds, amphibians, very few people! Lovely little secluded park. WE had a blast exploring among the twisty little trees.

Immaculately kept, safe and patrolled, what a jem of a NC park. Walking trails are soft on the feet, interesting and uncrowded this time of year. The campgrounds have full service hook ups, only 10 of them though, so book early! They even have little cabins with beds. If you are tent camping, go for one close to the bath... More

It's a good place to come for families and if you want a quiet, clean place to camp. It's pretty inexpensive and it's close access to the beach. The only downside was that the gate closes at 9/10 pm and doesn't open until 8 am.
