This is a beautiful course in the shadow of Mount Mitchell. The course is always wet, which means that golfers must stay on the cart paths. This issue, plus the absence of forward tees for senior women golfers, makes the course difficult. However, the course is well maintained and the mountain views are wonderful. Five hour rounds are not uncommon.

Played Labor Day 2015' Cart path only is required and for good reason. However, it is a beautiful course and slower than normal play is actually a plus. Provides a little extra time to enjoy the awsome views, see mtn streams full of trout (buy food in the snack bar and watch the water boil on #2!) and watch the... More

This as you can tell was my second trip to mt Mitchell ! Both with great expectations ! Just to be let down ! This trip was the worst in history of golf ! 6 hours and 25 min to be exact for 18 holes ! And it wasn't a crowded day ! No they had 3 groups of 4... More

While having a cold brew in Teo’s Restaurant, I reflected on my past forty years of coming to Mt. Mitchell Golf Club. In my twenties, I played from the white tees. In my thirties and forties, I moved to the blue tees. In my fifties, I moved back to the the white tees. Now in my mid-sixties with a bad... More

Beautiful course with great scenery! I have played this course on 3 different occasions and it always takes 5 hours. It is always cart path only so expect to do some hiking. There are a couple of holes that don't really make sense, especially the 450 yard par 4. There is not a bathroom out on the course which is... More

Mount Mitchell Golf Course is ranked ****1/2 in Golf Digest’s Places to Play and a Top Ten Public Course in North Carolina. Located just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway on N.C. Highway 80, the course is along the valley at 3,000 feet elevation with the beautiful views of Black Mountain Range and Mt. Mitchell towering at 6,000... More

I've played many courses in my golfing/working career and this is one of the best. The weather was perfect (cool 65) for a round of captain's choice. Unfortunately the grounds were wet, so it was cart path only. Other than that, the day was perfect. A mountain course with plenty of flats and a few elevation changes. I'll be sure... More

Mt Mitchell golf course is a fun course to play. The mountain views are fantastic. The course layout is mostly flat and fairly easy to score on. If you enjoy mountain views, clear trout streams, and cool temps coupled with low humidity then this is the course for you. Did not eat at Teo's but have heard good comments from... More

This course is in the shadow of the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi, yet, surprisingly the course is in a valley, so it's very manageable, both for carts and walking. Due to frequent rain, carts are usually required to stay on the paths, a minor inconvenience. We stay for a month at a mountain retreat that overlooks the 12th... More

I've played this course several times every year since the 80's. Have noticed over the last handful of years that the condition of the course is declining. Use to be the entire course was lush and manicured. Now the bunkers are terrible, fairways not great and greens are equal to a muni. I think the owner doesn't want to spend... More
