Roaring Fork Falls is a tall cascading waterfall, nearly 100 feet. It's in the Black Mountains area of Pisgah National Forest and easily accessed from NC-80 just west of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hike is just under a mile one way on a gated forest road. After passing some old concrete magazines, the road reaches Roaring Fork. An obvious path leads up to the base of the waterfall. Beautiful mossy rocks surround the waterfall and its a great place to relax and enjoy nature.

This is a rather short and easy hike to get to the waterfall - no more than 15 or 20 minutes on a gravel Forest Service road with a mild grade. We used this as a "warm-up" hike to start our day. You are treated to a very impressive waterfall, which makes for some great photos. There aren't really any signs for the parking for the trail head, just take the road to the end before the gate.

Good hot day activity. Not long hike, falls were't huge but it hadn't rained much either. Kids (teens) enjoyed cold water, toddler enjoyed splashing in water. Small dogs enjoyed as well.

A short hike gets you to this hidden waterfall. Go early in the morning or after a rain to have it all to yourself. There is even a small area where the water pools -- great for little kids. A delight when sparsely attended.

Our family of 6 (ages 4-39 and our puppy) hiked to the falls with no problem. The last few feet are up a hill with exposed tree roots, but still very doable.

The falls were beautiful and the hike there was peaceful and pretty. Definitely worthwhile to do if you are in the area! All in all, we were there for about 90 minutes.

This is a nice smallish waterfall that is off the normal path and is a nice 1/2 mile walk mostly uphill on a gravel road then onto a trail to the falls with a root filled path. Rocks are slippery so be careful. Kids went swimming in cool water.
There are a couple of old buildings along the path, not sure from when.
The parking is just at the end of the road which is easy to find with google maps or the map on TripAdvisor.
Not many people and a nice place to walk and see some falls.

This is an easy walk on a service road, enjoying animals and plants. The water fall is spectacular. Be certain to use restroom before you start. There is not a restroom on the walk. I go every October.

Easy walk, wide trail most of the way. Nice shade. This isn’t a tall, dramatic Niagara Falls type, but a lovely little sight. Convenient to our stay, near the rental house. You’ll probably be all by yourself.

A little hard to find since there are very few signs. From the Blue Ridge parkway take route 80 towards Burnsville. The South Toe River Road turns left at an old motel. Take South Toe River Road across the bridge and turn left immediately. There is a very small parking area at the trailhead, which is a Forest Service road. It's a nice, wide path until you are almost at the falls. Follow the blue diamond blaze and you can't miss it. The falls were wonderful when we were there after a rain. They really were roaring!
