Was in Bryson City for a few days and decided to check out Pincu Pottery. My first thought at the "Have you ever thrown clay?" question was a picture of me and other adults literally throwing clay, as in- to break it.. I thought: is there a target..? What it turned out to be was a great little studio where I could learn to mold clay on the spinning wheel, and what a great experience it was! I came home and my friends asked, "You mean like in the movie Ghost?" So I puffed up my chest and proudly said "Yes." I made 5 pieces in 2 hours, with Elise operating the pedal for me so I could focus simply on the clay. It was fun and fulfilling, to feel the clay in your hands and molding it to what you envision. What a wonderful teacher. Elise taught me how a one pound piece of clay can "beat you!" if you don't tell it firmly what to do. It was awesome.

Elise=fantastic. We brought 12 crazy Mini Cooper motorers to Pincu, made mugs, laughed, hugged, & smiled. We were taking clay impressions off the cars, tires, and using Elise's talent to help make our creations better. We ended up with 12++ mugs, but better than that, many memories of the creativity, conversations, and fun times you can only get by creating something together.

Pincu has classes from beginner to advanced, slab to wheel, and also offers Elise's really-cool creations for sale in the studio. Her glazes are all house-made and unavailable anywhere else, and she's got a great eye for style and sturdiness in your piece.

So, you can spend 1/2 hour browsing and buying, or 2-3 hours creating. Having done both, I'd recommend the "creating", but if you don't have time for that, stop in and say hi to Elise for us, and tell her we'll be back next year!

This is a must if you are in the Bryson City area. Spent two hours as a couple with Elise learning some tricks of the trade and then had a chance to make several items including bowls, mugs and a very creative gnome that is now sitting on my desk at work. Work was glazed and then mailed to our home. Price is very reasonable for what you get. An experience that created some great memories.

This is a hidden gem, it is a small local pottery shop that has some amazing collections. The owners are some of the nicest people you will come across and they had a great dog in the shop as well that my son took to right away.

Spoke with Ed and Kari. They are lovely people and very talented potters. Ed even gave a novice potter some tips and even threw some clay on the wheel and demostrated what he just spoke about. That was awesome. Definitely worth the visit if you want some great advice and beautiful pottery.

We recently visited Pinco Pottery while on a family weekend trip. We had reservations at the pottery for a private session. Elise was WONDERFUL! She was patient and fun, and went above and beyond on working with us! My children are college age and absolutely loved the experience! If visiting Bryson City, this is a must!

We made reservations for a private session for my family while on vacation in Bryson City. I cannot articulate how happy I am that we chose to do this. Elise is an amazing teacher, and she was very kind and patient with us. All of us, including my 16 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter had an absolute amazing experience. We will treasure our experience for years to come, and we will soon have the pottery we made (we can't wait)!! If you are thinking about it, stop thinking and make your reservation. You will not be sorry.

Elise was a great teacher for our family of four. From our youngest boy of 7 to our 16 year old daughter, our family loved making pottery. Sure Bryson City is know for the white water rapids - but splashing water onto the spinning wheel of clay was JUST as fun for all of us. Elise allowed us to use our imaginations with each of us making and designing 3 pieces of pottery. My son made a puppy dog and two bowls - my wife made a cool leaf bowl and I made a beer stein mug (hand decorated). I have never previously had the opportunity to make pottery on a spinning wheel. It is much trickery than it looks, however it is fun for any age. My entire family gives Pincu Pottery (and Elise) two thumbs up!!! Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place! My husband and I had so much fun! We would recommend this place to anyone. If we are ever in the area again, this will be on our list of to dos. Elise made this fun and worked one on one with us. We can't wait to see our finished work. If this is not on your list, ADD IT NOW!!
