Barrett made me feel right at home on the trails during our half-day session in DuPont State Forrest. Not only was he accessible and communicative in the weeks leading up to the tour, assessing my goals for the tour and gauging my riding level by asking what experience I had had on the trails, but he went above and beyond during the tour itself to adapt to changing weather conditions, skill level, and energy level. He helped me get set up with a rental bike as I was traveling from out of state for a wedding in Asheville, and he provided a helmet and all other necessary gear for me to use. He knows the trail systems like the back of his hands, and is quickly able to pivot mid-ride and flexibly adapt to your goals. Feeling winded on a long climb? He will happily stop for water and pause for breath, telling great stories along the way. Want to shred the downhill? He'll help you push yourself just the right amount to learn. Barrett is an excellent teacher as well if you are looking for riding tips and feedback. His feedback is actionable and concise, and he made the whole experience fun, educational, and engaging. I walked away from my tour feeling like I had soaked in the outdoors, ridden some beautiful local trails with a friend, and learned something to take home and continue working on in my own riding. I could not recommend Red Wolf highly enough, and I'm excited to tell family and friends about Barrett and his team next time they're in the area.

Yuri and his 9 year old son, Ollie, guided us through the trails and roads of DuPont State Park. We had some unpredictable weather to navigate but Yuri was conscious of it and adjusted the trip to account for it and the skill levels of his group. He also spent a good portion of the day riding with our 7 year old daughter while Ollie capably guided my wife, my 11 year old son and me up the mountain and down some great trails. Yuri ensured we visited some amazing spots and walked away (fatigued) with more knowledge and appreciation of the area and it’s natural beauty. At the end of the day we made new friends in Yuri and Ollie. Thanks guys! Highly recommend Yuri and Red Wolf!

My family and I are from Michigan; 4 of us did a road trip down to Brevard. My brother and I did a full day tour on Monday Jan 27th, and I signed up for a half day tour myself for Friday (my brother would have loved to join - but he was worn out by that point!)

I'm an avid "mountain" biker with a few years riding experience in Michigan, but this was my first time to real mountains. Knowing how long it takes to learn the ropes in a new location, having a guide just makes sense. Makes things safer, more productive and especially more fun! Barrett did an excellent job of finding us trails appropriate to our skill level - challenging but not over our heads. The tours were very well coordinated and we had a great time. Also learned some things about technique from Barrett (working on that attack position), bike maintenance (when you manage to break a chain), and some of the many scenic treasures in Pisgah (waterfalls everywhere!). We also had fantastic weather, but I'm not sure I could credit Barrett or Red Wolf with that. In any case, we had a very fun time riding with Barrett and would definitely recommend Red Wolf for anyone looking to be shown the ropes at any of the trail centers in the area.

Excellent choice for our 17 year old son. We can't keep up with him anymore and weren't ready to send him off on his own. Yuri took him on a ride that he ranked as his best ever. Why pay for a guide?:
Experience: guides know the trails and the enjoyment level will be much higher that trying to figure out where to go, etc. (we have been lost on trails, not fun!)
Safety: Someone experienced with both the trails (and difficulty), able to do minor bike repairs if needed & first aid if needed. Keep in mind GPS is not reliable in the area.
Cost: while the initial cost might seem prohibitive, compare it to other expenses - we spent a day in Gatlinburg and the tourist options we did - Star Cars Museum, Rocky Top Mountain Coaster, Skybridge, etc. - easy added up to the cost of a guide and my son would have picked biking over Gatlinburg in a second!
Options: my son was very disappointed when an all day rain cancelled the second scheduled day of mountain biking but Yuri put together an optional trip that worked out great.
Besides the biking skills, Yuri has a passion for history and is a wealth of knowledge for the area. He seemed to know everyone they saw on the trails or in the parking lot! I would highly recommend doing this.

Wanted to go to Brevard and mtb for years. Made plans with Red Wolf for 2020 and Covid hit. Finally got to NC and Barrett made sure it was a fantastic time in Dupont. Barrett reschedule on the fly so we could get the ride we wanted (it rained and the single track was not an option on our original day). Barrett picked up our bikes from the rental location the night before. He was patient as we were running behind due to another delay. Felt no pressure from him. He made sure we were comfortable on our bikes and then off we went. My son and I are stronger riders so we had Barrett and Carmine (2nd guide) for my daughter and wife. This let us each get a ride that matched our skill. Barrett quickly realized what we were capable of and gave us the perfect amount of challenge. We hit some nice climbs that resulted in payoff down hills that had great flow. He knows the trails inside and out. This let us get a verbal preview and ensure we could maximize the enjoyment while still being safe. Best of all Barrett was super positive the whole time and just connected with my 15 year old son. If I get back to Brevard I will book time with Red Wolf.

Awesome guide! Red wolf tours did a fantastic job of navigating us through the many many trails in Pisgah and DuPont. Our guide was Daniel and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He was so knowledgeable and explained everything as we rode to ensure we got maximum enjoyment. We highly recommend this tour company!!

We returned to Brevard for a 2nd year in a row. One of the first things I did was reach back out to Barrett at Red Wolf to find out about getting another guided ride. I learned that Barrett was going to be away the week I was in town, but he had a guide for me. Now having used guides in a few different locations, you know that really does often make a huge difference in the experience. And we had a BLAST with Barrett 2 years ago (we had a 2nd guide for my beginner wife the first time). Well, the person Barrett assigned, Andy, was top notch. He was in contact as expected before the ride, was right on time, and picked out an amazing set of trails that pushed my son and I. Not too hard, but also a ride that was the right amount of new challenge. We climbed, we descended, we rode rocks, sand, and dirt. We pushed ourselves to do more and improve our skill. My son (16) and I just had a blast and would recommend Red Wolf to everyone and anyone. It has been 2 days since our trip and my son and I still have smiles. It should go without saying that Red Wolf is high value for the $ (and I thought a vary reasonable price).

Repeat customer of Red Wolf. Tackled the rougher side of things in Pisgah National Forest this time, riding with Yuri. Challenging but great ride. Added a second day at Dupont with the family (wife and sons, 6 and 8 ) with some time on some more introductory singletrack. Thumbs up approval from everyone at the end of the day.

Communications were crisp throughout. It's money well spent if you are unfamiliar with the trail network, weather patterns, or just want to ride with someone who knows what the area has to offer. Thanks to Barrett for maintaining a high level of customer service, and to Yuri for a great couple days of guiding.

Barrett was a excellent guide for our bike trip.
Mountain bike riding in both DuPont and Pisgah was excellent.
Barrett was fun, engaging, and professional. He focused on optimizing our trail time in the limited (3 days) that we had. Group consensus was that there was more that we wanted to see, and that we would be back for a repeat of this experience in the not too distant future.
He is very connected locally, is all in on providing his guests an exceptional experience, and is wicked fun to chase both up and down hill :-)
Barrett also provided a fantastic cabin that was very comfortable for our group (5 guys). He also provided recommendations on what to ride (I rented for a day to mix it up), and where to eat/visit while in town.
Highly recommend Barrett and his company if you are interested in riding in either DuPont or Pisgah.

Yuri was the perfect guide for our MTB trip to Pisgah. We are intermediate to advanced riders from NJ that were looking to challenge ourselves on the legendary Pisgah gnar.

He gave us the perfect warm up runs to allow us get a feel for the trail and feature types, then appropriately adjusted our ride based on his observation of our abilities.

It was a pleasure riding with such an excellent guide, and, quite frankly, was amazing to watch him defy gravity and scale pro-grade features with ease.

5 stars and definitely coming back to grab Yuri for the next tour.
