Featured local artisians, crafts and aritfacts. A bit expensive. Nice place to stop and stretch the legs and meet some local artists.

Unfortunately, this closed several years ago and has not reopened, thanks to ASU politics.

I was a student work and educational director at the Appalachian Cultural Museum back in the '90s. It was the best museum in the area. Wonderful exhibits. Incredible educational programs available for school groups. Thanks to the politics at ASU back in the late '90s/early '00, it was closed.
In the early '00 ASU administrators told the director that he had two months to get out of the building, for another purpose. The building stood idle for over two years! Administration promised that they would find a new home for the museum, but in truth, they really didn't care.
Thanks alot ASU!

The Appalachian Cultural Museum was closed by its owner, Appalachian State University over ten years ago. It's artifacts were then poorly stored and then dispersed back to owners. It was a poorly thought out and tragic decision.

This museum has been closed by Appalachian State University. It once exhibited important artifacts with informed commentary illustrating important regional characteristics. Its closing is a loss.

Museum closed by the University some years ago. Once presented good insights on regional culture, but now sadly no longer in existence.
