Fun old fashioned general store mercantile with barrels of old fashioned candies. We enjoyed filling a bag with family favorites. They also sell kitchen gadgets, bread mixes, jellies, and jams. They also sell clothing, although it is very expensive. It is a well-known tourist area and there are a lot of people, but it is still fun to visit a... More

This store is a destination for tourists and it was jammed with people, making browsing and shopping difficult. Best to visit when not jammed with people.

First of all, This is not the Original location of the Mast General Store - Valley Crucis is and is still open today (less than 10 miles away) . The Store in Boone showed up in the early 80's and it is a Primetime location for a downtown Boone, NC business. It's a two story rustic walk thru crickety floors... More

Enjoyed visiting this Mast location. Had been to several before, however this was first opportunity to visit Boone. Went there, especially, to visit with Prissy and Pop and shopped afterwards and found MANY great items. we will be back and spend more time and money.

We only had 20 minutes remaining on our parking space, but quickly realized we needed to add another $1.00 to the meter. We purchased 4 items, and are happy with all 4. Be sure to go to this store.

I was told by a friend of mine to visit this store while we were in Boone, NC. I loved it. Lots of items ... from candy, to toys, to food, to clothing, etc. Friendly staff as well!

The original Mast General Store, in nearby Valle Crucis, dates back to 1883 & was known for their motto of having everything the community needed… "from cradles to caskets". Since opening their first location over 125 years ago, Mast General Store has expanded to locales throughout the Southeastern U.S., including Boone, NC. The Boone location is housed in a building...
