Fantastic! Do it! Tim was great, especially with a hesitant teen who he had smiling and leading the way by the end of the ride. I loved that this was a longer (2.5-hour) ride which gave us a chance to get comfortable on the horses and left plenty of time to relax and enjoy the ride and wonderful scenery. Tim was full of interesting information about 'The Cone' and we loved hearing stories and seeing pictures and videos of his horses (who we were riding) barrel racing. Tim was a pleasure and took the time to get to know us alll~ Best of all, small groups only!

From the moment we arrived, our guide Tim was attentive and thoughtful while matching horse to rider. He was entertaining throughout the ride and was full of stories from the history of Moses Cone to the idiosyncrasies of each of the horses. I rode the beautiful mare, Oto, and she took very good care of me. This is not a nose to tail ride but it is as safe as horse back riding can be! I recommend VX3 to anyone that wants to explore this beautiful park.

If you want to do this Trail Ride in the Fall or other busy time of year, book MONTHS in advance. We booked in June for a mid-October time. And we picked the perfect time! The weather and colors of Fall were spectacular. Tim is the owner of Vx3 Tail Rides, and he did an outstanding job. The horses were beautiful and well cared for. They responded well and were fun to ride, but you do have to be alert and make sure they are paying attention to you. The trail ride was through various carriage trails in Moses Cone area. We did stop for a break at the Moses Cone Manor where there are restroom facilities available. The ride was 2.5 hours long and just a lovely ride through beautiful areas. Tim is chatty and enjoyed entertaining his guests with good information about Moses Cone Family and area. Some of it may or may not be true. ha. Book this excursion for a fun time. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend booking with Vx3. Tim was an awesome guide and we had a blast. We had a group of 5 (3) first time riders, and the ride was great with easy trails, beautiful views and conversations with Tim which gave us many laughs. We will definitely book again with Tim our next visit!! Thank you Tim for the experience!!

Signed up to take a ride with Vx3 several months ago. We showed up 30 minutes early because I was not sure how long it would take to find it.
Brad was ready to go when we got there and we got started early too. Had a great trip. His horses were well taken care of and well mannered. Brad knew a lot about the area and was able to give us fun and interesting facts on the Cone mansion, Blue Ridge Parkway and Blowing Rock area.
I understand Brad is the Brother of Tim who started Vx3 and now Brad does the majority of the trips.
We will go back and ask for Brad to be out guide. He told us that he has 4 different loops to ride and you see different things on each ride.
Thank you Sir for a great afternoon!

What a great way to explore Moses H. Cone Memorial Park!! The three of us (my husband and I, plus my Mom) had an amazing time riding the trails with Tim, and learning the history of the trails and park. We hadn’t been on horses in quite some time, but Tim made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. His horses (Otoe, Jet and Drifter) were very well-mannered and once we were on our way back to our rental cabin we all commented on how much fun we had and how we’d book another trail ride the next time we stay in Boone. Tim, thank you so much!!!!!!

My favorite part was....everything!! Tim expertly matched his horses to the folks who were there to ride. It was a beautiful trail on a beautiful spring day. Tim spoke very knowledgeably about the history of the Moses Cone Park during the ride which made it that much better. Our break in the back 1/3 of the ride allowed us to walk around the Moses Cone house, carriage house, take pictures, etc. Can't wait to book our next ride with Vx3.

I happen to go on a solo ride with a great guide, Brad. He was punctual and polite. He made this a real off road experience. I felt safe and entertained. I had a great horse with wonderful scenery on a beautiful day! These guys definitely set the bar for an authentic ride instead of a measly follow the leader trail where there’s not much effort involved. He had us stop at some great summits with great photogenic views. I will definitely come back!

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time riding the beautiful trails with our guide, Brad! I had experience riding, but my boyfriend didn’t, and we both had a great ride.
As a client, I felt that I was able to go at the pace I wanted to. Brad shared stories about the property, we sang and did a few bird calls. It’s also great, that there is a break point for both the horses and riders. Letting the horses time to Recuperate, and riders to walk around, use the restroom, grab water, Or time to explore the property.
We had a fantastic time, and plan on going again with our new friend, Brad.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time exploring Moses Cone Memorial Parks trails with the tour guide Brad. His boisterous personality and knowledge of the area made for an entertaining and informative experience. The horses were well trained and beautiful. The price was well worth the time spent forest bathing. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking to try a trail ride, regardless of experience level. Note: those new to horseback riding will likely experience some soreness in the bottom area, it shall pass 😄

What is the rain policy?
TimVines
Blowing Rock, NC3 contributions
If it is raining you can call to request to cancel your ride with 3 hours advance notice. Because i have to haul the horses into the park, i like to know prior to cleaning, saddling, and hauling. However, we can ride in the rain :-)
We are a family of 4 and very interested in visiting and horseback riding but I would like to know costs and how long the rides are?

Do you actually remain seated on the horse for 3 hours? Any bathroom / porta potties along the way?
TimVines
Blowing Rock, NC3 contributions
We do take a break about 1/2 way at the Carriage house and Manor house where you can use the restrooms, and walk up to the Manor house to see local crafts. Call me and we can discuss your specific needs. My rides are very custom.
Do they have horse there or do have to bring your own.

Call me and let's ride
How much for adults, and children 7 and 9?
Cheri L
Davisburg, MI7 contributions
We paid $100/rider, however, we were a party of all adults. Unless a child was going to be riding along with another rider, I wouldn't expect the cost to be different. Contact Tim though as I am sure he will do anything he can to accommodate your family. He is such a wonderful man....and very much a ''family'' man!
