I love ice skating, and skiing and have done both at Appalachian. I actually learned to ski at ASM when I was 12 years old (26 now) on a school trip. I also took a snowboarding class there through ASU (I am not a good snowboarder but great experience). The skiing is great for the beginner or less experienced skiers,... More

Skied here on opening day, Nov. 22. I was eager because I missed out last season due to uncooperative weather and changing jobs. This resort was amazing. The staff is super friendly and attentive. This was very important to me as the last two trips I took to Sugar Mountain, the staff was less than hospitable. I signed up for... More

This was the perfect first time experience for my grandchildren 8-13. I couldn't get them off the mountain. Next night ice skating and hit Coco by the bon fire. The food is actually good or you can bring your own that have a separate indoor dining for that or eat out on the deck over looking the slopes! It's cold... More

I do not ski...But I love riding here to watch people enjoying the slopes, and I get to see snow at the same time. They have a small ice skating rink, cafe, etc. The drive in is a little steep and narrow.

ASM is not nearly as large as its two main competitors--Sugar and Beech Mountain--but it makes up for this in part by putting great emphasis on slope grooming. If you get up on the mountain when the resort opens during the week you will be able to ski pristine herringbone runs virtually by yourself. However, after ten o'clock or so... More

Always a lot of fun! Love going here. Take the kids and it is always a great new adventure for them. They always have a great time and are exhausted after a day at App Ski Mountain!

This is a great place to ski for beginners and intermediate. Staff is so nice and they go out of their way to help. Shout out to Lauren, Ryan and Jason at the ski school- great teachers! Perfect place to sit on the deck and watch your kids- you can see them go up on the chair lift and come... More

Got in 2 days on the slopes during Spring Break! The kids took snowboard and ski lessons and had a great time! Loved that all slopes could be seen from the deck of the restaurant!
