My son had a good time doing mining for gems using a bucket of gem mixed sand. We also found nice inexpensive souvenirs for our trip on the Blue ridge parkway

We took our kids. They had a great time. They staff was very friendly and also took their time to explain what we found. Also gave us suggestions to do in the area.

We had 5 stones cleaned and polished. When you do 5 they offer a discount of 10%. Total for the 5 was $180 before tax. They did a nice job on them . We came away with probably 10 more that are large enough to do something... More

Doc's does rock hound trips. The first one is in June. If you look on their website it will tell more.

depends on what you want. The biggest bucket (for about $60) is enough for 2-3 adults to do and will take about 30-45 minutes even with 2-3 adults. If it's an adult plus kids, then the largest bucket will be your best bet... More
