We went here twice with two sets of grandkids and had a great time. The staff was excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. Best part was the explanation they gave on each rock. You can imagine the reaction when the youngest granddaughter is told she's holding petrified fish poop. LOL.

Doc's is okay. You pay your money and get a bucket of dirt from various places with rock which the kids sieve in the water and collect. At the end an employee helps sort the rocks and hopes you will pay to polish some, but doesnt push this. It was the trio's favorite activity in the Blowing Rock-Boone area. I... More

This is honestly the best gem mining I have ever done. I went a few times as a kid, but NEVER found anything like what I found here. My husband and I split a large bucket because we both love gemstones, but it could have been split between three or four. A medium could easily be split between two. We... More

Staff was super friendly! My kids (ages 6 and 3) loved it. They go through and sort all of your findings at the end AND give you a sheet with all the gems listed so the kids can sort again once home! I would definitely recommend!

We took our 10 year and 12 year old grandsons here. They both enjoyed it. I think the 12 year old was a little bored. Staff was great and spent time after collection of rocks, sorting out their treasures.

Super friendly staff. Bought small buckets for each of the kids, but they loved it so I had to by more. So definitely recommend getting at least the medium bucket.

Enjoyed sifting through the large bucket with mom, sister and my son. Found some large rubies and sapphire; very cool!

Enjoyed Doc's Rocks Gem Mine with my 10 year old daughter. We purchased a medium sized bucket for $36. It took us between 30 and 45 minutes to sort through it all. We did find some medium sized gem stones and many rocks (aka fossils). The workers are helpful and get you set up quickly. We also had one of... More

What can I say we've been here once before were never disappointed very reasonably priced definitely get what you pay for. Like how they don't be pushy with you and make u by the most expensive bucket.
