Nice hike around lake
Jul 2021
Nice easy hike - 2.3 miles. Not strenuous but very crowded. Lots of dogs so if your dog is anxious around other dogs leave the at home.

Wonderful!
Jul 2021
We rented a canoe for an hour and paddled across the lake. We also walked the 2.5 mile trail loop around the lake. The loop is an easy hike. Beautiful weather! They also have 1 and 2 person kayaks for rent.

Beautiful surroundings; clean water
Jun 2021
We chose the 2+ mile hike around the lake starting at the bridge parking lot and ending at the campground (clean restrooms). You can also rent canoes, etc. for water activities or bring your own (paddle types).

My last night on the Blue Ridge...
May 2021
This was my last stop after 4 days of riding the BRP. I brought in some pizza from nearby Blowing Rock. The campground was wonderful, although I was surprised to learn that swimming isn't allowed in the lake. I was there the night before the official season opener, so the bathhouses weren't open....but I got to hang my hammock in a very private campsite right next to the lake for ten bucks!

Nice hike
May 2021 • Couples
We went for a hike to the waterfall area. It’s about 3.5 miles. The hike started on a nice flat trail. It follows the river. Around half mile in it gets a bit more tough. It’s not a hard trail but it does have some switchbacks . It’s got nice views of the river as you follow along the side.

Do You Like Long Hikes?
Apr 2021
I have to admit that the thought of a 5-mile hike, while appealing, is not my thing. And after back surgery, I wasn't prepared to do the full circle. I would have liked other solutions to enjoy some of the site and to be able to access them without making the long trek would have been great. I rated this average based on my own experience and the likelihood that not everyone is ready for the long hike. I think with a few "shortcuts" this would be the "go to" place for people wanting to be outdoors.

Lovely!
Oct 2020
We went up to Blue Ridge Parkway to see the leaves. We enjoyed having a picnic at Julian Price Park. It is used by a lot of people, but picnic tables are spaced significantly apart for COVID-19 regulations. Park is great for hiking, fishing and boating.

Trip down memory lane
Sep 2020
My parents used to bring us here for picnics and hikes when I was a kid. I have many fond memories of walking around the lake and eating at the park beside the creek. We stopped by here with my son for a quick bite as we rode down the parkway. It was just as I remembered it. We came at 1:00 and it was packed, but we found a parking spot at the back and a picnic table by the creek. It was nice sitting there, talking with my family and listening to creek in the background. Even with all of the people there, it was still peaceful where we were at. We took a short walk and it was fun watching my teen son skip rocks in the creek. We really enjoyed our time there, as always.

Price Lake hike
Sep 2020 • Couples
This is an easy to locate trail off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Plan to hike in old shoes
as there are many boggy areas. It’s about
a 2 1/2 mile hike around the lake. We saw people of all ages and a few dogs on leashes. Kayaks are available for rent.
Sites are available for picnics and camping.
Not far from the town of Blowing Rock.
