We noticed a sign at the edge of Bass Lake that mentioned a ranger led hike at Boone Fork Trail on Friday morning in Julian Price Park. We had gone to this same spot the prior year, but turned back when the going got rough even though we knew we hadn't seen the best part - the falls! Taking this... More

Our family of four (children ages 12 and 7) camped here for two nights, and found the park to be wonderful. We stayed on Loop A (we had site 18, and think it is one of the best, being more private than many of the sites), which is the only loop of the four available ones that borders the lake.... More

We have been coming to this spot for as long as I can remember. We love cooking out, spreading the blankets and letting the kids play in the stream. If you feel energetic and looking for a hike, there are plenty around the lake or area to get your exercise. It just seems so peaceful and tranquil to cook out... More

This is a beautiful lake. You can rent kayaks and canoes or bring your own. I wear braces on my legs and did not think that I would be able to access a kayak, but I was wrong. If you can negotiate the 6 or 7 steps down to the launch area, they have a rack to pull the boats... More

While riding along the Blue Ridge Parkway, we noticed the picnic area, camping area, and the beautiful lake. We stopped by the lake, watched the kayaking. Very nicely maintained.

We went there on labor day. The place was crowded as expected but we were able to find a table after some wait. Good place for a barbecue and spending quiet time with your family. We did not find any information regarding the lake and how to go there. There was a look out to see some portion of lake.... More

We visited the park and took the 2.3 mile loop around the area. It was a great trail, but we had to walk through the campground as part of the loop. The Campground was crazy busy (Labor Day Weekend) and there were several dogs not on leashes (we had both ours on leash) so that created challenges. Once we were... More

We drove by the first morning on our way to Blowing Rock due to the foggy conditions. But the second time on the parkway it was sunny and we made sure to stop. The lake and mountains had great views. Even if you only have a few minutes it's worth stopping. We walked across the road and down the side... More

Really nice, varied, 5 mile loop Boone North Fork Trail which leaves directly from the parking lot. Very well signed with 0.5 mile markers and orange blazes. Follows creek with some nice rapids and small falls through forests of rhododendrons. No mountain views, but good forest / stream variety.

Julian Price Park, Lake and Campground is all right there together on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway. We went hiking with the dog on the trail around the lake. People were canoeing and having fun in the summer heat on this cool day in the mountains. I enjoyed driving through the camping areas and want to make plans to return... More
