About
Book Sales. Old time charm. The Blowing Rock Community Library is located on the corner of Main Street and Park Ave., adjacent to the Town Hall. The beautiful stone structure was built in 1949. Inside, the library sports warm wood paneling, iron chandeliers, and stone fireplace. There are many reference books on local sights, history, and architecture. You will seemingly go back in time as the library still uses the card catalog. Be sure to check out the whimsical featuring signed artwork by beloved children's author Eric Carle. The locals will tell you one of the library's best features: a continuously running BOOK SALE of gently used hardback and paperback books as well as collectible volumes. Prices start at $1. Don't miss visiting "Jessie" who casually reading a book while seated on a bench on the front lawn (photo op!). Summer Hours (May-Oct): Mon-Sat 10:30am - 4:00pm Winter Hours (Nov-Apr): M W Sat 10:30am - 4:00pm.

My wife had to visit this library. She is a big Jan Karon fan, and knowing that Blowing Rock was the setting for the "Mitford" series made it mandatory for a visit. A very nice library with friendly folks.

We went to their large back room for the discounted book sale, and went away with five good books for $ 15. Some are only $1. each !

I was walking around downtown and saw a sign on the library that they were having a Book Sale. I went in to check it out and purchased 5 books.
Both of the ladies I interacted with were very nice and friendly.

As a library, they should be better informed. They were having a book sale, my wife who always buys books everywhere found nothing. The town hall is more interesting.

This is a very nice little library. I've been to 2 book sales there.
They were also selling fairly current dvd's. it's easy to get to, being right in the center of Blowing Rock, and has very nice plantings. The staff is pleasant and helpful and there is a good book selection in the main part of the library. It's a very attractive little place, fun to spend time in.if you love to read and wander the stacks.

Stop in to enjoy the feel of a traditional library that is cozy and friendly. The back reading room is so welcoming. And they have used books for sale.

This old style library is like stepping into the past. Card catalog, everything done by hand. No electronics here. Really fits the area. Friendly people working there with a good selection of books if you have an idea of what you are looking for. In downtown and steps from the park where many benches are available for reading.

We recently moved to Blowing Rock. Having already visited the large and modern public library in Boone, we were eager to see what the closer-to-us local Blowing Rock Community Library might have to offer. We were not disappointed. It is like stepping into a preserved piece of the past. Polished wood and stone give the library a homey feel. I loved the fact that they still use a paper card catalog (excellent teaching opportunity for me to give my 11 yr old son) as well as the book check out slips where you fill in your name and the librarian stamps the date it is due back. For a brief moment I was transported to the libraries of my youth. But don’t let the old fashion style mislead you, they had an excellent selection of titles both new and old. Lovely arm chairs to take a rest and flip through some choice selections. I also noticed that for the size of the library, they had a very inviting and well stocked children’s section. I am so glad we found our neighborhood library and look forward to being frequent patrons.

Beautiful library in a gorgeous building. Feels like the libraries of years ago with a lot of wood and stone. The main library has a comfortable seating area with the day's newspapers; a children's section and a well-stocked lending library. The community room houses hundreds of used books in great condition and most cost only a dollar. The library is supported by volunteer members of the Community Club who raise money to purchase books, pay the light bill and other expenses from the used book sales income, selling hot dogs during Art in the Park and the annual fund-raising drive.
