Husband was getting cabin fever while recovering from total knee replacement so we adventured over to Goat Island Park. I wasn't sure how far he could walk but what we did was a nice walk. We will definitely have to explore this park more.

The island got it's name back in 1910 when goats were put there to control the vegetation. I was hoping there would still be some goats but there weren't. It consists of 30 acres of hardwoods, green spaces, and wetlands. It's a short, easy, paved...More

Nice park. In the Catawba river. Interesting history. Nice trails. Some picnic tables are available. It will flood in wet weather. Glad Gaston county made this a park.

Tucked away in a corner of Belmont is a beautiful park. There is a nice disc golf course, as well as an extensive pathway to experience the scenery. Being right along the river does mean you'll need bug spray, especially in the evening.
