A Small Gem full of history & memories by the tons!
As a local, the memories that surface when you see a picture of local history is unexpected. As a tourist or transplant, the history that comes thru the images is educational. Photos by the thousands, sorted by towns & cities, lets you find your history. There is local history of Belmont mixed in with the photos. Your visit to the museum is only enhanced by the steward & restoration expert, John Millican. The stories, tours, and perfect personal touch he provides is priceless. I look forward to more visits & spreading the word.

Search for the All Healing Springs
I had heard about the All Healing Springs, but could find any information about it except on the Millican Pictorial History website. So I decided to visit the place and see if I could find any more information there. And boy! I did! Allen Millican was super helpful and supplied me with books. He is in the midst of moving, but he still took the time to help me. He is also a wealth of information and references. He has pictures from across Gaston Counties history that are beautifully restored. His work has been featured in many other museums that I have visited. I would highly encourage people to visit, buy a picture, and help support Mr. A Millican as he is treasure to historians and to the community. I found the All Healing Springs, the first school in Gastonia, with his help.

    Museum tour
This little museum is a hidden gem in downtown Belmont. Mr Millican has transformed this building into a fascinating tour of local history and much more. He can tailor your tour to 5 minutes to at least an hour and he can talk the entire time about his photos and memorabilia. It is all very interesting and he has SO much to share. He even inspired me to read a book about a famous set of twins.

Allen Millican was a delight to talk with and so informative. He shared about events and people who I remember from my childhood. I to him all day long. The museum has a wealth of historical pictures of the area. My time was limited because of a prior engagement. Only spent a few hours there, I look forward to returning when I have more time to look longer.

Saw a picture from the Millican Pictorial History Museum on FB, of a 1968 All-star Baseball team, which my husband was on! Went by the museum today to get a copy. What a treasure! We spent about 2 hours there, looking at old pix, and speaking to Allen Millican. He is a wealth of knowledge about Gaston County, and so much more! We plan to return soon, to add a few more pictures to his museum. Definitely worth the time to check it out.

Mr. Allen is the very best! Such a kind, sweet, knowledgeable man. You will be hard pressed to find someone who knows more about Gaston County history or who is more enthusiastic. Even as a local I learned so very much on my visit to the Millican Pictorial History Museum. I purchased a picture as well which is the absolute best quality around. This is a must see in Belmont, NC whether you are a visitor or local!

The pictures and history contained in this museum are incredible. There are pictures of local and national history that can't be found digitally or printed anywhere else. All pictures are also for sale. Additionally, Allen is incredibly friendly and is happy to tell engaging stories about any of the pictures.

An amazing walk through history, both local and otherwise! Allan was like an old friend and treated us to fascinating stories to go with his extraordinary collection of literally thousands of lovingly restored photographs. Too much to take in it all in one visit. We will remember and return!

Went to the Museum after dropping someone off at Charlotte Douglas Airport. It was a good break for the afternoon. Allen was a fount of knowledge, could recite a plethora of information on each and every picture in the place, and there are a bunch. My wife and I were only there probably a half an hour because we had lunch plans but you could spend hours looking at all the pictures of Belmont, celebrities with local ties, and surrounding areas. Go on a cool day, and know there are a few steps up to the house,

Alan has a vast assortment of memories from significant moments that shaped the region in which we live in. Very knowledgeable in particular about the Loray Mill strike, I wish I had come more prepared about the event to ask more insightful questions. He combats the risk of Southern cultural dilapidation with picture evidence and unique insight to this areas part in American history.

Take a step back in time and see one of the largest picture collections I have ever seen. Allen, the owner, truly cares and loves the local community. His collection expands past Belmont, NC. This is a MUST see when passing through Belmont, NC.

Allen is a great host of his amazing pictorial collection that includes Belmont, Cramerton, Charlotte and the surrounding area and an assortment of textile mill memorabilia. It also includes photos from old Hollywood and modern day television. If he doesn’t have an answer to one of your questions, he knows exactly who to call. See a photo that you like? Chances are good you can purchase a copy! A couple hours spent here is not nearly enough to get through it all! Allen is passionate about what he does and it shows. Thank you for a fantastic experience… we’ll be back!
