Worth your time, worth your attention, it's fun!
If you are wondering whether it is worth it to go to the Land of Oz experience, it totally is. Do not wait and book your trip now they are really really getting better every year and even a lot of transportation snafoos have been handled. The Land of Oz itself is beautiful and surprisingly well maintained for only being open a short time out of the year. And I've got to tell you, the part that I thought would be the weakest would be the actors. However that proved to be the absolute best part of the park and a complete anchor to the Oz experience. And I really do mean the Oz experience, it is no longer just a defunct amusement park that they open up to let you wander around, it is bordering on a full-on immersive experience that you can trust to be a half day of fun. We were there for nearly 4 hours, we last half hour being marred by rain but still we were able to get some food and get back to our car safely by shuttle. I would say that it would be nice to get a little bit of food while inside the park, you do not have an opportunity to eat until you get to the emerald City at the end. The emerald City is the part of the park that burned down and so it is just now tents, but it is a real huge tent with projectors and seats and everything for the final Mini show. Ultimately the actors were so first rate that they elevated our mood and allowed us to enjoy the scenery and park and sets so much more. Even the witches guards were in character and a lot of fun to interact with, although I must say that the actor playing scarecrow took the cake, but that is not to diminish the appropriate performances by Dorothy tin Man and the cowardly Lion and especially the wicked witch of the West. What a great experience that the family, all seven of us, enjoyed immensely.

    One more bucket list item
This was so much more than I expected! The cast was perfect. Could not have asked for a more friendlier place to visit. Plenty of picture opportunities with the characters. Every time we came in contact with a cast member they spoke to us. And YES. I skipped on the yellow brick road, knocked on the door to Emerald City and made it to the observation deck!

    Wonderful Experience!
My husband and I went for the first time this weekend and LOVED it! I was so impressed with the staff and the actors - the actors looked and sounded like they had just stepped out of the movie. I also really appreciated how there was an employee assigned to each character who would use your camera to take pictures with the character. How thoughtful this was because for most of us this is a once in a lifetime experience and we LOVE these characters! No one rushed us and all the staff was kind, helpful, and obviously big fans of The Wizard of Oz. You could tell they loved being there. The costumes were perfect, the makeup was perfect - our experience was perfect. Thank you for opening this magical place this year and allowing us to experience being “somewhere over the rainbow”.

Fun. You gotta go at least once
This is our second year. It is a fun experience. The actors are brought in from a local college and they are great. They are talented and make the experience fun and as if you are in Kansas and Oz. Expect to walk and stand a lot and it is on top of a mountain so up hill, down hill a lot as well. We were there about two hours. You park below and they run school buses up to the park. Beware. The bus seats are for kids so it is a bit cramped. Know that ahead and if you are tall, expect a little discomfort during the ride. It is all good as you have plenty of time to stretch your legs when you get to the top. Enjoy.

    Adventure over the rainbow!
This place is amazing! If you love the movie Wizard of Oz, you'll LOVE this experience! Live out your dream of following the yellow brick road. The Autumn in Oz event is a series of skits that you watch as you travel from Kansas, through the tornado, and into the Land of Oz. You end up in the Emerald City where your journey ends. This is a family friendly event where folks dress up as characters or sport their Wizard of Oz gear.

Most enjoyable and inspiring place to experience - like no other!
Quality venue with delightful and entertaining staff and activities! The Land of Oz on top of Beech Mountain is SO well done, and everything from Dorothy’s house, Professor Marvel, the witch’s legs under the house, Glinda greeting everyone….seemed straight out of the movie! The Yellow Brick Road winds through the woods on top of the mountain, and each character meets with Dorothy, entertains the group, and then has awesome time for guests to have pictures made. SO MANY happy faces/families, and so many wearing character outfits. The Emerald City was interesting, and we enjoyed seeing Dorothy “click her heels together” after Glinda and “The Wizard” added their help. The Wicked Witch is hilarious “Alexa..where’s Dorothy?”, and the rest of the costumed staff were stellar. This should be a family tradition!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road - You Will Be Glad You Did!!!
This was so well organized and set up from purchase of tickets, arrival procedures, venue event, exiting. We took the chair lift and enjoyed beautiful views of the surrounding area. Upon entering the park you begin your journey to the Land of Oz. So many people dressed up (we did too) and it very realistic, the actors were incredible, and the scenery was as if you were there. Plenty of restrooms, snacks and shops at the end, and overall a Five Star Experience.

Save Your Money on the Extras
My dad came here in the 70’s so it was a very nostalgic experience for him. My son (8) loved it as well. The actors were amazing and everything was so well maintained. The wait time was long to get in and the area that represented Kansas was incredibly overcrowded and difficult to enjoy. I wish they had done better crowd control for that portion. There were too many people to see Dorothy, Toto, and her aunt. They said a large tour group showed up hours late and it caused the over crowding. We paid extra for the chair lift and the scenic overlook. Both of this were things we could have done without. The chair lift took forever as they have to stop it for each person to get on or off so it did not move smoothly. The scenic overlook was basically the Mountain View’s you saw when you got to the top to enter the park. Overall it was well done and we would do it again. Just watch online for ticket sale dates as they sell quickly and are only for 1 month of the year.

Oh boy. We came in with absolutely no expectations, and were still let down. I'm not sure what the allure here is, but we certainly didn't see it. We paid $250 for VIP tickets for 4 of us (if you decide to go, definitely don't do VIP, it was pointless). The minute we get there, we have to either take a ski lift or bus up. The ski lift is an additional $12 per person. ?? So we took the bus, which was fine. The rest of the experience you seem to be corralled and herded along a pretty short singular path until you reach the final destination, which is a show, and a bunch of opportunities to buy stuff and food. And that's it. That's the whole thing. There were entirely too many people working there, it was like an employee every 5 feet making sure you stayed on the single path and got to the end. The VIP seating for the show was not worth it. The VIP bus sat behind the regular bus, so we got to sit and breathe all of the exhaust from that bus until they took us back down the hill. Unfortunately this just seems like a cash grab. At least now we know. I rated it 2 stars. One for the actors there that did a good job, and one for my family, who always make things fun.

First, the website does not explain what you should expect and very important this is not for seniors with any walking issues. It’s all walking up and down stairs and ramps. It’s poorly organized in both signage and the timing of shows or interactions along the yellow brick road. It was very confusing. In one instant up top the printed sign was actually incorrect and was sending you in the wrong direction to the chair lift. We had VIP tickets which got better parking and the first three rows of the show in the emerald city which is a joke since there are only about 8 or so rows. In reading the reviews there was some VIP lounge which we never saw. We missed the first show by the barn and there is no signage saying when the shows start. There is food in the Emerald City with a small amount of seating. The prices are rather high. We opted to take the chair lift which is an additional $12 but worth it to see the views. All in all it was interesting but if you are not a bug fan of Oz skip it. It’s not worth $169 for two people.

Visited with my husband and sister in law. We really enjoyed the shows and the characters. They all remained in character any time you interacted with them. Great photo ops through out the visit. Be prepared for lots of up hill walking. Definitely recommend doing this. Tickets sell out fast and it open only 3 weekends a year in September.

Overall it was a good time, bringing back memories of childhood watching the movie. The young tour guide was amazing. She was animated, friendly, and was very knowledgeable. The mountain and views and the way the park recreated the scenes was also amazing. The only reason why I gave it 4 circles out of 5 is because for the amount of money we paid for the private tour, it would have been nice for the employees to dress up as character to reenact scenes along the tour. Perhaps some music/songs from the movie stationed at some of the stops could be added to add to the tour. I know it cost a lot to create this place so the price is not going to be cheap, but these suggestions are not too much to ask for to be added to make the experience well worth the money.

I can't just speak to the private tour, I have to also speak to the experience. First, the people of OZ are amazing! They are the nicest and friendliest people. They really have the kindness and the attitude that is conveyed in the movie. To say our Tour of the Land of OZ was extraordinary is putting it mildly, It felt like stepping in to the movie, and when Dorothy sang "Somewhere over the Rainbow" I was moved to tears. You felt like you were watching the film being made. Our guide was so special and we got to see extra behind the scenes items that were original to the theme park. If you are an OZ fan, or have children who love OZ, you MUST visit! You must also visit the new and beautiful OZ store. Great merchandise! And the Scarecrow was just precious. To all the staff who helped us (we had a major hiccup), THANK YOU. You made sure our cares were washed away and we had a magical experience. MUST SEE AND DO!

My girlfriend and i went last fall, She is a big wizard of oz fam and she was not disappointed. We re both disable and cannot walk very well. We had to go into the park backwards because there are no ramps allowing entrance by way of Dorothys house. We had to enter the yellow brick road from the rear. By the time we got caught up with the rest of the group we missed the beginning scene of the entrance of Dorethy setting the house on the wicked witch the show was over and we were at the scene where she met the scarecrow. I think they need to redo the shows and add ramps so all of us can enjoy they whole show.

My Family and I came here for the first time today. I had bought the VIP tickets which we didn't get any special treatment. Dont waste your money on getting VIP. The ski chair lift was extra money which I think should've been included with VIP . The chair lift is large and very comfortable and relaxing. We seen many people mountain biking. The bathrooms are portable potty. The shows are fun and it was so much fun walking the yellow brick road. All the characters were great!! There is a lot of walking so wear good shoes. At Emerald City, the first 3 rows are supposed to be for VIP but no one was checking the wristband so anyone was sitting up front. We really enjoyed ourselves, if you love The Wizard of Oz, must come here!
