The terms "ghost walk" and "ghost tour" are varied depending on where you go. This one was very family friendly and made up of very long stories that gave a lot of history, mixed with humor.
The tour guide was excellent at his job. A very talented and friendly guy.
The content was very underwhelming in my opinion. But he did say after the tour that they change and rotate the stories so I guess I just got a bad batch for what I am interested in. In general the stories were heavily on the history and setting, often ending with a quick one liner on how it's now related to ghosts. Not much on peoples experiences with any ghosts.
Also, it should be noted that the tour started at 7 and ended around 8:30. I say this to emphasize that the sun was still up when we stated and was only setting and getting dark when we ended. I found this to be a bit of a mood killer. Again, this tour was much more family friendly and historical and fun than I was expecting.
I had a good time and it was a very high quality experience.

Our ghost walk tour guide, Zelda, was an amazing storyteller! She dressed and talked in character, told a variety of detailed pirate and ghost stories, making an 1.5 hr tour of the town of Beaufort lots of fun and very entertaining. Her stories were detailed and captivating! Highly recommend taking this ghost walk you'll learn alot of history and local lore.

I'm a fan of ghost tours so when I'm in a new town, especially one as historied as Beaufort, NC, I had to look one up. Port City was the number one recommendation and it was close, so we signed up for the 7:30 tour. To say our guide was excellent would be a understatement. The young lady (I'm so sorry but I'm horrible with remembering names) was dressed to the nines in pirate attire. She took on (was possessed) by the spirit of an old pirate and remained true to character throughout the ~90 minute tour. She provided us with exceptional stories, regaling the history of Beaufort, both normal and paranormal. She was well rehearsed, knowledgeable, and passionate about this tour, which made the 90 minutes fly by. While I never expect to see ghosts, the knowledge that they have been seen for generations in this area and the stories behind the properties is worth the price. If you're looking for something fun to do in the small town of Beaufort, I cannot recommend this activity enough. 20 out of 10 and a job well done young lady!

**Edited to add** We were contacted by the tour company and fully refunded our money with a sincere apology. They stated they had a guide get sick so they had to combine two tours and during the merger, a larger family group was also added to the tour. It sounds as though the tour groups are normally smaller in size and they stated they would rather their guests have a good experience than make extra money. I appreciated them contacting me and we will try the tour again next time we are in town.
We did the ghost walking tour earlier this week. My family has been coming to Beaufort for around 30 years and we love the town so we were excited to take this tour and learn some more of the history and walk the streets that aren't visited as much. Our guide was nice and a good story teller however the group was so large that we could not hear half of the information he was saying. The group is supposed to walk on the sidewalk while the guide stays near the middle. We were at the front of the group and many times we could not hear what was being said. We couldnt stop to listen because the group behind us then couldnt continue. We tried a few times to slow down to attempt to hear better but the guide would tell the group to continue walking. There were also times when the guide and group stopped for a part in the story or to look at a particular house and we were unaware of the stopping since we couldn't hear and turned around to see we were no longer with the group and had to walk back to them to try to listen to what was going on. I really wanted to love this however the group was just too large to thoroughly enjoy it. I understand they need to make money so they sell more tickets but the ones who are paying need to be able to hear what they paid for.

Did the Blackbeard escape room with my daughter and sister. This was our first time doing an escape room. Skeptical at first, the outside of the building looked run down and the grass a little overgrown. Then I saw the room and thought how many clues could be in a tiny room?
Man, I was wrong. This was by far the most entertainment for the money. It was well thought out and executed. Time flew by. We probably needed one more person, there is so much to take in and decipher. The host was very knowledgeable and seemed excited for us to play.
If you are trying to decide to go or not, definitely GO! You will have so much fun!
This is a challenging room and if you’ve never done one, may be a bit confusing but if you’re smart- it will be exciting, fast paced and fun!
Highly recommend if you are near Beaufort.

I can not give this ghost tour enough positive feedback. My family had the best time and it was the highlight of our trip. Zelda was our guide (Anne) and she was AMAZING! She never broke character a single time and her story telling had us captivated. We left with so much knowledge of the town and the people who lives there so many years before. We have done many ghost tours but Zelda made this one our favorite. Book this tour! It will be the best part of your trip! Wear plenty of bug spray and walking shoes.

My family and I recently went on a Beaufort Ghost Walk Tour with "The Captain". I can not express how impressed we were with his story telling, his knowledge, and providing factual knowledge in a way that brought everything to life. We would go on the same tour again, and are planning to the next time we are in Beaufort, NC which hopefully will not be too far in the future. Tour was entertaining, historical, and our guide brought forth knowledge in story telling manner. Keep doing what you all are doing, and thank you for one great tour.

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience where history and entertainment collide, look no further! From the moment the tour began, it was clear that Port City Tour Co. is dedicated to delivering an engaging and memorable experience. Our guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the rich history of Beaufort and The Crystal Coast, but also an exceptional storyteller who brought the spooky tales of pirates, paranormal activities, and historic escapades to life.
As we wandered through the charming streets of Beaufort, we were transported back in time to an era of swashbuckling pirates and mysterious happenings. The combination of historical facts and ghost stories was perfectly balanced, keeping everyone in the group both educated and entertained. The guide's enthusiasm and passion for the stories were infectious, making it easy to get swept up in the atmosphere.
Standing in front of centuries-old buildings and hearing the tales of their ghostly inhabitants was one of the highlights of the tour. The attention to detail and the depth of research that went into each story were evident and truly made the experience immersive.
I highly recommend Port City Tour Co. for anyone visiting Beaufort. This haunted walking tour is a must-do, offering a unique blend of history, mystery, and spine-tingling fun.

Lively and informative tour, learned a lot about the “ghosts of Beaufort” along with a nice history of Beaufort and the now defunct Diamond City nearby. Our guide, Emily Nelson, stayed in character throughout the evening, and knew the events in great detail. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful ghost tour with a fabulous and knowledgeable hostess, Zelda,( a.k.a. Anne Bonny). She did a great job sharing local history and ghostly tales as we walked a bit around Beaufort, even visiting a beautiful old cemetery! Highly recommend Zelda and Beaufort Ghost Walk for a night out. Great for families too!
