This graveyard is packed full of history! The graveyard has small maps available for visitors pointing the most popular and interesting gravestones. It is definitly worth walking through. Reading the many inscriptions is both fun and thought provoking!

This is an old one, unfortunately not in great shape but worth visiting. Bricked over graves, live-oak trees, little girl buried in a rum barrel unusual.

This is a pretty cool place to just stop and look around. There are some unusual headstones and interesting stories about the folks buried there if you can research a little before going.

Love history and understanding the people of the time. I appreciate the craftsmanship of the stone cutters and carvers of the monuments and head stones. A real piece of eastern North Carolina life and history. Well worth the visit.

Interesting old cemetery but be sure to get a guide from the historic office and watch out for tree roots! There are 25 notable graves contained among all the graves in this burying ground.

No charge to enter the burying ground, but they ask a $1 for the brochure with brief commentary on a number of the graves. Not sure what the current fee is for a tour guide, but sometimes you get a free short tour with a... More
