During April is $3 residents pricing so we got in cheap first saturday. There was a big crowd of people, especially waiting to get in to the park to pay. That took about 35-40 min, but it is worth the wait. We stopped and viewed...More

We have lived in the Boone area for sometime and have not been to Grandfather Mountain State Park. The visit was awesome. The behind the scene tour of the animal habitat was better than the San Diego Zoo. The staff at all the facilities are...More

This was our last stop to locations in the area and it was a splendid way to top off the experience. Great views and a very well maintained property with options and facilities for every age and ability level. All enjoyed the visit!

Friends recommended that we see this. Was not expecting it to be so awesome. Lots of animals (bears, cougars, antelope, eagles, and a cute otter). There is a lot to do and two gift shops. The mile high bridge was great!

We arrived late in the afternoon and saw the cost of entering the Park. $20.00 for adults and $9.00 for children, in my opinion is too much for a tax supported park to charge for entrance. The mountain was beautiful and I took pictures from...More

Having visited all 50 of our beautiful United States and many foreign countries, I still believe that the mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina are the most beautiful places in the world. Maybe because that's home for me, maybe because there's something about...More

It's not too far a drive off the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had lunch there, went to their zoo (which I normally do not like seeing caged animals), but the highlight was the Mile High Bridge at the top. A bit scary to cross over,...More

We loved visiting this place. The zoo is not big, but it has a beautiful view from the suspension bridge. If you are in the area, you can not stop visiting it.

Stunning views from all over. The GF swinging bridge was an easy walk and worth the views. The bridge is one mile up with views from all around. Kids hiked up to Calloway Peak, very difficult trail but worth the hike according to them.

It does not cost anything to park and hike in the state park. It only costs to go to the tourist area which is still privately owned.
