Our group of 8 friends and family had a great time and Jacob hooked us up with some awesome tubes with bottoms and backrests.
Jacob gave us lots of tips for better tubing. He told us some history of the area. Jacob told us that the average time on the river was 2.5 hours. We were out there for 5 hours. It was relaxing and beautiful. We saw fish, deer, ducks, the mining train along with many plants and flowers. We did not see any snakes and not many mosquitoes. We brought coolers with drinks and snacks to stop and hang out in a few places. Jacob had special tubes for the coolers. Bring sunscreen and the whole family. Our crew ranged from 65 years old to 12 years old. This activity should be good for ages 10 to 75. You may want swim vests for non swimmers but you will be on a tube that floats. Also a good idea to ask about the current water level. Good water shoes or sandels will help. You got to try this!!!

A beautiful stretch of the Toe River. The guys at Loafer’s Glory are knowledgeable and nice. You can’t miss with Loafer’s Glory Rafting and Tubing. Afterwards, grab a cheeseburger at Bonnie & Clyde’s across the street.

We had a lot of fun in the tubes drifting down the river with some mild rapids. The water was nice and cool. Wear water shoes. We came in flip flops ok but water shoes would be better. Our ride to the river was fun and the driver pointed out the best spots to slide!
When in Bakersville this is a wonderful activity. Good COVID-19 precautions as well. Thank you for that!

This business has been using our private property in Green Mountain, NC (Toe River) without our permission. Private property signs ARE posted throughout this area. We spoke with Anthony the owner, who had "assumed" it was public access. Anthony stated we were being "stingy", however, this company has used our private land we pay taxes on to run their business. Unfortunately Loafer's Glory Rafting has not done the proper research and ignored trespassing signs. If you are thinking about using Loafer's Glory make sure you are NOT trespassing on private property during your outings.

Dear Danielle,
It has been understood by us, and all other boaters that use this access, that this is a public access put in. We dealt with the previous owners, the McElfreshes, and had a fantastic working relationship with them. After you or your family took ownership, we had not had the opportunity to meet you until yesterday, July 2, 2018. We saw your No Trespassing signs but they are posted in the trees above the river access and we never crossed the planes of those signs. There are no signs posted at the riverbank. Please be advised that we are not the only commercial outfitter that has been using this access since you took ownership, in addition to universities that use the river and study geology in the area, as well as private boaters. Be assured that we will not be back on your property. We apologize for upsetting you but you never communicated to us that this was an issue. Again, we will not return. We are respectful of your property and your wishes.
Regards,
Anthony Wilson

We've been tubing with several different tubing companies and on several different rivers here in North Carolina. The Loafers Glory Tubing experience was BY FAR the best trip from start to finish. The drive in from Asheville was easy and beautiful (to do most anything and outdoorsy from Asheville, you can pretty much count on a 45+ minute drive...). The owners and their employees are nice and knowledgeable of the area. The Toe River is clean and clear, and a fun depth for tubing. There are several fast-moving/rapid-like areas which are a nice addition to the slow-moving float. We stopped at "Goose Poop Rock" for a picnic--definitely make a plan and take a cooler for a pause along your trip. The Toe also has several deeper pools of water for swimming. We never had to get out of our tube and drag ourselves along the way--and I didn't feel dirty or grimy getting out of the river. This experience was wonderful from start to finish, and we will definitely go back for another tubing experience.
Try Loafers Glory. These guys are GOOD.

Called the day before to make a reservation and the fella that answered was quite sarcastic and unfriendly! Same attitude when we bought a T-shirt after our tubing trip down the river. The Toe River was great! Just wish this fella had a little more friendly attitude. My daughter and husband won't be back...

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your trip. I am sorry that your experience was not to your satisfaction. However, it does seem that you were pleased with your tubing trip. Your son-in-law purchased a T-shirt, put it on, and then left the store to eat at the restaurant across the street. Your daughter came back with the shirt he bought to exchange it for another. He was wet from the tubing trip and the shirt was wet, but I did allow her to exchange it for another shirt. I apologize if I came off as being sarcastic- that certainly was not my intention. Our repeat customers are a testament to our commitment to outstanding customer satisfaction. I realize that your daughter and son-in-law will not return, but I do hope that you will give us another chance.

I just returned home from a quick tubing trip in the mountains with my family. We had a great experience with Loafers Glory. Friendly staff and very accommodating......even on a holiday. The trip down the river took about an hour and a half, but we didn’t stop for very long along the way. There were a couple of small sandy beaches and rocks to stop at. We will be visiting again soon!

My wife decided to go tubing one Sunday afternoon and found rafters glory. What an awesome little tubing company. Small business owners were extremely friendly and courteous. Took us up the river to our put in site. Showed us the best place on the river to either hit some small rapids, deepest places if we wanted to swim. Coolers are allowed and encouraged, also gave us a tube to put it in. Overall, a great place for couples, kids and family. Great, fun day of tubing.

We had a great time tubing with Loafers Glory during a recent family vacation. We got caught in a deluge of rain while tubing, but we didn’t care …. we were tubing!! Chris and the staff were great. Highly recommend!!

Sorry we do not pick up guest and shuttle from Hotels. However we can accommodate 7 for a tubing trip or inflatable kayaks provided they are older than 12 years of age.
Dress to get wet, bathing suit, t-shirt, and hat. Any type of sandal with a ankle strap is great. No flip flops.
