If you love history this is a must. Amazing history of our Country. Beautiful views of Lake Ontario. Park undergoing renovations. Wish the buildings and park was marked better, with a little more information to help with the self guided tour.

The river, the lakes and the falls. Well, beyond these you might enjoy a little bit of history and reminiscence. Costumed people help you travel back in time, in a peace of mind, away from the thundering of the falls. In a fine day Toronto...More

Beautiful park with amazing views of Lake Ontario, including a view of the Toronto skyline across the water. The Fort and lighthouse are nice to see as well. Very good visit!

While we planned on a 30 minute stop, we stayed for about 3 hours! Saw Toronto across Lake Ontario, watched the musket demonstration, and walked the grounds of the fort. Beautiful weather and grounds!

The fort has beautiful stone structures that you can walk among. The museum portion is very nice with an introductory video and some audio displays, along with plenty of muskets and swords. The fort itself has a number of stone structures, including the large French...More

an hour or all day. It is a beautiful spot and it really depends on what you are looking for in visiting here. They have interactive reenactments through out the day in the summer which were pretty interesting.

Niagara Falls vacation - August (11 Replies)
Planning a tirp to Niagara Falls in July or August this year. Will come in via Amtrak so based on train schedule will have 4 days to spend in the area. Interested in visiting NY side only - not crossing to Canada. Planning 1 day up to Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown; 1 day to Lockport Locks/Erie Canal cruise; 2 days at Falls. Probably return to Falls one evening to illumination? Will do Discovery pass to access several things at the Falls but question is whether 2 days at the Falls is...More

I think you can spend two days at the Falls, between the Aquarium, Power Vista, Gorge Trails (some are tough and will wear you out!), Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, dining, night views/fireworks, etc. You could also do the Whirlpool Jet Boat tour and browse around neighboring Lewiston, as it is only a 10 minute drive from Niagara Falls, if you feel like you have additional time.

How much can we do in one day? (2 Replies)
My adult daughter and I are driving up from State College PA. We are spending two nights at the Butler House B&B. Upon our arrival we'll settle in and do a bit of exploring. The next day (weekday in July, after the 4th) will be our one full day in Niagara Falls. We'd like to do the "tourist things", Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds. Being history fans, we'd also like to take a drive up to Old Fort Niagara. Is this all "do-able" in one day? We have no problem being early-risers. My...More

Your plan sounds good. On the way into town, you might want to stop at the Visitor Center at First St. & Rainbow Blvd. (this is the "official" location vs. others you'll see, which are fronts for various motels and tour companies). You can pick up maps and guides there (including a self-guided "Historic Walking Tour of Downtown Niagara Falls"). You can do the Cave and the Maid, which open about 8:45AM, and still have plenty of time to drive to the fort (about 20-25 minutes) in the...More
