It was a bit early in the season and so the trails had not yet been cleaned up. The preserve is very peaceful. We watched the birds and some small animals. I recommend downloading the trail map on your phone and using some kind of bug repellent (Neem Aura is organic), especially if you go in the late afternoon. I also recommend long sleeves and long pants to avoid possible ticks. My grandson (age 22 with autism) and I (age 75) took the white trail up the mountain and the blue trail to return. Both of us got our heart rates up, but not dangerously so. Cell phone service was good throughout so that help could be obtained in an emergency. All in all, we felt that we got some good exercise and enjoyed the day.

Great for a not too strenuous hike, beautiful view at top, the white trail is steeper than the blue one but both lead to top, so can take one up and the other down.

This is a relatively easy hike up and back with a beautiful view of the Hudson River. I took 2 teenage girls from North Carolina and they loved it. At the summit we met a mother who had brought 3 younger children who had been there several times.

A treacherous hike, not easy as many sites said so. Roots, rocks, and high slopes make it more than challenging. It was so steep going down once you were at the top, blue trail, my toes felt broken as I took baby steps getting down. Tight small parking lot and unfortunately a letdown in spite of the views from up top. Never again

No too strenuous but beautiful views once you get to the top. If you get only 1 shot, go in the fall. The colors are spectacular

It is a nice hike to the top. Some letter boxes are there for the kids. Look at atlas quest.com for more info about letterboxingand clues.

This park is a nice place to enjoy the fall colors. First, you should note that the location of this park is not correctly marked on Tripadvisor at the current time. Look for it on the map due west of Peter Pratt's Inn. The parking area can be a little crowded on a nice afternoon in peak foliage season, but people park along the access road. We always like to hike up the white trail, then back down along the blue: it's about 2 miles round trip, with several hundred feet of climbing to the top. It's a nice place to visit on a sunny afternoon.

Quiet sanctuary amongst wooded trails. The trek to the top is worth the effort as the views are amazing on a clear day. Each trail takes you on a unique flavor of nature.

Wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots and have an adventurous hike thru varied landscape. My young boys loved it and so did my parents. Bring a picnic and eat at the top while looking at NYC skyline and then look north and west at the great view. Bring binoculars to see more. 45 min each way.

Turkey Mountain provides a great place to hike and a terrific view once you get to the top. Depending on the pace you choose, it is a trail for virtually anyone in decent shape. And the view on a clear day is one of the most open and best in Westchester and beyond.

Do you have any photos of the old Tory holes on Turkey Mtn (from the Revolutionary War period) or the Leatherman's Cave on Turkey Mtn?

Sorry I do not have any pics of Tory holes or the leather man's cave. There are holes in an old built bird blind. I have not seen or heard the Leatherman stayed at Turkey Mt. on his route.
