My fiancee and myself hike this trail every year when we come up to Woodstock. It is moderately difficult, can get very slippery at certain points but well worth it. Takes about an hour and a half to get to the top but you walk...More
Hike that is uphill for long periods of time, but it is an old carriage road so you don't have to climb up rocks/steps (which was easier on my knees). Really cool skeleton of a hotel up top, then incredible views of the Hudson Valley...More
Nice hike. Make sure you get there early on a weekend as parking lot fills, there is additional parking 1/4 mile past the main lot. Great views from fire tower when open. Interesting to see the old ruins of the hotel.
This can be considered a difficult hike but I will venture to say it is not. There is constant sustained elevation gain that does knock the wind out of you, but its up an old roadway so the terrain is easy. This goes on for...More
I came here to see the hotel ruins and they did not disappoint. Was treated to atmospheric clouds rolling through the site, making for some awesome photos. As others have said, it's ALL UPHILL and can be quite steep in parts. It's doable for most...More
It's all uphill with no more than a few feet here and there that seem to let up in incline. I was tired, but once I got to the top it was so worth it and I forgot all about the struggle of getting up...More

really top notch view at the top especially from the fire tower(although scary if you have any fear of heights) Old hotel ruins are very interesting and great photo op. Hike would be a 5 except trail(if you call it that) is really an old...More
This is a hike, not a stroll, but it is certainly not the most difficult trail in the Catskills. I'd recommend hiking boots, as there are some steep, rocky sections. The views are amazing, especially if you are brave enough to climb the rather rickety...More

There is always people, but if it's crowded is hard to speculate. Maybe during the week while kids are in school before school is out would be good time to go. Once school is out the tourists come from all over. Camping there on the mountain is not allowed, but there are places not too far from there that you can go camping. ReserveAmerica can help you find something that meets your needs. Hope this helps, God Bless
Well we took a car up to the starting point of the hike and it was pretty windy and steep, and it may have been 2.5-3 miles from flat ground... probably further from Woodstock. Seems pretty difficult to bike, and definitely... More
Well we took a car up to the starting point of the hike and it was pretty windy and steep, and it may have been 2.5-3 miles from flat ground... probably further from Woodstock. Seems pretty difficult to bike, and definitely not practical to walk. I'm not sure about getting a ride, hopefully that's available!
