Whiteface may have made its name in winter, it has the highest vertical drop in the east, after all but it does summer pretty well too. The warmer months make Whiteface a natural setting for outdoor enthusiasts of all levels and ages, whether you're looking for an adrenaline rush or just an afternoon of beautiful views with your family. Take a hike along the Stag Brook Falls trail or Bear Den Mountain, play a round of Disc Golf and check out the area's most exhilarating, challenging Mountain Biking terrain. Or gather the family for an afternoon of taking it all in with a Scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola Ride to the summit of Little Whiteface. Drive the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway to the summit, and lean into the Adirondack breeze as you marvel at the world below you. This well-known mountain offers exciting and scenic runs for skiers of all levels: Beginners do well on Easy Acres, which features its own ski school, novices and intermediates enjoy Little Whiteface, while experts head to the heart-pounding summit.

Looking for a jaw dropping memorable place in the Lake Placid area? Look no further, this will give you plenty of photo ops, with a great 360 view of the area. The hike up the trail can be a bit challenging, especially in the high winds, but what fun. For the those looking for a quick fix take the elevator.... More

What a great experience to enjoy with family and friends. Pick walking up the side of the mountain to the top, or taking the elevator, either way is memorable!!! Just keep in mind, it can be very cold at the top, but the views are breathtaking!!!

We were looking for something to do one evening & a waitress from a local restaurant suggested whiteface mountain. We were not disappointed. There is a drive up the mountain then, when you get to the parking area, you take a tunnel to an elevator & go up another 27 stories to the top. It was fabulous. You could see... More

I'm not much of an adventure lover but this was a great experience. We took the elevator up then made our way down. A couple of the "rock stairs" were a little slippery since I was wearing sneakers. Or maybe I'm just that bad at doing outdoor activities! I would definitely recommend.

Even on a cloudy day the summit was beautiful. We took the auto road and elevator to the top due to time constraints. Totally worth it.

The entrance gate is only 8 foot. The drive up is twisty but there are many places to stop. This is a good place for hiking. Be careful as it is very uneven and there are no guard rails. There are no bathrooms at the top. Some climbed the last section of the mountain. It starts with stairs but quickly... More

This is a experience that if you are near the mountain don't miss it. I recommend you pick a day with no clouds as the peak is high enough that any cloud cover will block the view and possibly you will be surrounded in cloud. The day we went on arriving at the summit we were there a few min... More

On a clear day you can see Lake Champlain and Montreal Canada from the summit of Whiteface Mountain. It is the fifth highest mountain in the state of NY. The nicest thing is, you don't have to be a mountaineer to get the view. There is a highway that goes almost to the top, then a tunnel back to an... More

First, we paid $22 each for a gondola ride to the top, but it took us only to the summit of Whiteface Mountain, Next, we found out we could drive (price: $20) on the backside up the mountain, to a point. Then you walk through a moderate length tunnel to an elevator 27 stories up, where you are as high... More
