Fabulous, affordable(2.00 senior citizens) museum. Two floors packed with interesting history and fun facts about the area around Whitehall N.Y. (Birth place of the U.S. NAVY! Who knew?) Very informative diorama and Jay, the desk person, was very helpful and extremely personable. Pack a lunch...More

The museum is small but full of history about the area had dioramas of the ship yards that built the gun boats for the Lake Champlain campaign, had information on Benedict Arnold and his part of the building seems he wasn't always a traitor. The...More

The exhibits in the front room pertaining to the founding of Whitehall and the U.S. Navy's creation were interesting. The items on display in the rear of the museum and upstairs seemed to be arranged and displayed in a random and amateurish fashion.

Supported by volunteers - great way to get some local info and history. Wonderful volunteers (the world would be a better place if all people took this much pride in their town and gave of their time).

I came across a tidbit that the United States Navy got it's start in this tiny northern New York town, so I hunted down the museum which could tell me more about it. The venue gets it's name from what Whitehall was originally called at...More

The museum is definitely worth a visit. It is a somewhat disjointed collection of artifacts and in this age of slick, high cost museums it might seem a little unprofessional but don't be thwarted by that impression. There is a wealth of information inside about...More

We went to this small (but comprehensive) museum after visiting Fort Ticonderoga which turned out to compliment our visit to the Fort in ways that we could not have anticipated. As a museum of the first organized fleet of America's military most of the museum's...More

I don't even know where to begin. Took my mom (military veteran) and sister (navy veteran) to see the "birthplace of the navy". Instead of finding a neat and well kept museum and grounds, we found an abandoned museum and neglected grounds. I was shocked...More
