Elizabeth is an expert, patient and enthusiastic outdoor educator. She led a field trip for the Adirondack Land Trust at Coon Mountain Preserve on winter wildlife tracking. She was wonderful not just at finding and interpreting tracks in snow, but also habitat signs, connectivity, and animal behavior in general. She encouraged us not to guess, but take the time to describe our observations. "It all counts," she said several times - the type of tree, the ground cover, the depth of an imprint, the stride length, what else is around. It was an exhilarating experience.

Elizabeth is a superb naturalist-educator. I've been going on outdoor trips with her for years. She's deeply knowledgable about Northeastern ecology and shares this in a way that communicates its importance, in a fun and engaging way. I can't recommend Elizabeth highly enough!

I just participated in a wonderful Animal Tracking tour with Elizabeth. In addition to giving interesting information about everything we saw, she demonstrated how to apply scientific thinking to our field observations. She was responsive to interests of the group members. Her explanations helped me enjoy the woods!

What a wonderful day in the winter woods! Elizabeth Lee is a knowledgeable, engaging educator who helps you learn by doing. She led our group on an expedition to see animal tracks and signs in the snow. We were a group of adults but she would be wonderful with children and mixed ages as well. Elizabeth really knows her tracks and much more! I highly recommend her as a guide and leader.

I have been on several wonderful nature hikes with Elizabeth in recent years, offered through various ADK organizations. I always learn so much! In December I attended the Winter Tracking field trip at Asgaard Farm hosted by the AuSable River Association. A gifted educator, she was very generous with her time and talents. I appreciated her calm demeanor and flexibility in meeting the needs and interests of the group. And she always has suggestions of books and other resources for continued learning. I will certainly watch for future opportunities!

Had a great hike on this unseasonably warm November day. Elizabeth is very knowledgeable about our local flora and fauna. The trail has 3 or for places to stop and enjoy a view of the Champlain Valley and the Green Mountains of Vermont. She knows her stuff!!

Wonderful day hike with Elizabeth. Very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. Lovely experience. The adirondacks are spectacular and the views of Lake Champlain are amazing. Can't wait to go in the winter to track some animals in the snow! Thanks Elizabeth

After going on a tracking adventure with Elizabeth, I came away excited to learn more about the wildlife in the Adirondacks. Elizabet helped each participant learn how to see the environment as wildlife does, identify differences in tracks in the snow and other signs of wildlife habitat in the winter. If you are able to join Elizabeth on a hike, paddle or other outdoor adventure, do it.

Our group of friends spent an entire day with Elizabeth. She guided a passel of our young children and several of their parents on a wonderful two-mile hike up Cheney Mountain. We frolicked our way up the trail, stopping to learn exciting tidbits about birch bark, galls, salamanders, and scat. We picnicked at one of the vistas overlooking Lake Champlain, and then descended the mountain at a leisurely pace.

Following our hike, we returned to our vacation house on Lake Champlain, and Elizabeth ushered our dozen children out for an impromptu kayak and SUP regatta. Safety was Elizabeth's top priority the entire time, and no one ever felt burdened by her mindfulness and caution.

We closed our day roasting marshmallows and making s'mores over a lakeside campfire.

Elizabeth is a kind and patient soul, and immensely knowledgeable of Westport's flora, fauna, history, great hikes, and outdoor adventure opportunities. Children treasure their time with her, and she's just as engaging and interesting for adults as well.

Elizabeth was instrumental in helping us plan a week in Westport, NY for seven families (14 adults and 13 children aged 10 and under). We talked several times over email and phone in the months leading up to the trip so she could tailor her program to our group. She planned a day that started with a beautiful morning hike and then moved on to archery (for the kids), several hours on the water in canoes and paddle boards, and, finally, dinner around a campfire. Elizabeth also had a backup plan in mind in case the weather did not cooperate.

In addition to planning our day with her, Elizabeth was more than willing to help us in other ways. For instance, I wanted to go on a long run one morning while we were there. I sent her an email simply asking which roads would have the least traffic. She replied with detailed directions for a great run. Not only that, but she attached a topo map with the run outlined in blue. Her attention to detail, great communication, and eagerness to help ensured that our families had a great week. Reviews from our group after our day with Elizabeth included: (from the adults) ‘she is great!’, ‘she was a homerun’; (from the kids) ‘she’s not a nature guide, she’s a fun guide!’ ‘can she please come back tomorrow?’ and one sad face the next day when we had to say no to ‘is the teacher coming back today?’ I think the only change we’d make if we could do this trip again would be to try to get a second day with Elizabeth.
