    Must Visit
This was by far the best winery in Westfield to visit. We visited 2 other on our trip. They did not compare to Johnson Estate. This feel like it could be a nice winery in Napa. Highly recommend if you’re going to check out wineries in Westfield NY. The tastings are inexpensive and they have some wonderful varietals to offer for all pallets.

One Way to Spend a Birthday!
Beautiful July day and a wonderful time for a wine tasting! (It also happened to be my 75th Birthday!) We went there with my sister in law and her husband and walked right in. They have about two dozen tables in their side yard along with tentage and good wait staff. We tried two flights of three different types of wine - my sister in law and I each went with their Reisling package and my wife went with Rose. As I had spent seven years in Germany I was very familiary with Reising wines, so could compare their offerings to actual German wines. The first one was a dry wine similar to Qualitetswein, the middle one a mix like Qualitetswein my Praedikat/Kabinett, and the last one a sweel wine close to a mix of Spaetlase and Auslase. We bought a bottle of the middle one to take home. We also enjoyed a charcuterie with a variety of cheese, breads, fruits and sausage which partnered well with the wine. This is the oldest estate winery in New York and grows most of its own grapes on its 110 acre main vineyard. Very much worth a visit if you like wine.

    Our favorite!
A favorite winery because of the wine and wonderful staff! A nice summer day sat outside with an umbrella over our picnic table. Choose your bottle of wine or tasting. The service is great. Order a charcuterie board or snack to go with wine. The vineyard is in view it's so relaxing and enjoyable. The wine is always great. Good selection from dry to sweet. The staff indoors at the bar has always been attentive, friendly and welcoming. The staff outdoors servers are also attentive. Can't say enough good things about this winery.

    Labor Day Weekend extravaganza
I have been visiting this winery since 1968. I am a native of upstate NY who enjoys driving on alternatives to the Thruway. A visit on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend found Westfield, NY hopping with thousands of visitors. Never before had i seen so many people at Johnson Estate Winery. Tasting was not necessary, but it was enjoyed anyway. Despite the crowd, the staff was attentive to evrty person there. I enjoyed three samples of wines I knew I would enjoy. The sunny pleasant day had seen an earlier stop for smoked salmon at Barcelona Harbor. Obviously this required a wine to enjoy with the salmon. I carry a cloth bag designed to carry 6 bottles of wine. There were no reasons to leave without filling this bag. 2 Bright steel chardonnay, 1 rose, 1 traminette, 1 dry riesling, and 1 dry riesling completed this shopping. The traminette goes very well with smoked salmon. The others go well with other meals. My next visit will be in the middle of the week with less people but the same good staff and wines available

First winery we visited while in the area. Didn't like any of the wines I tasted (6). Person serving me didn't interact much - no sharing of info about any of the wines. Only responded when I ask/said something to her. Sign said the gardens were open but little response when I asked about them.

This winery was on of my favorites in the area. We especially enjoyed the liebestroepchen. The outdoor seating in the garden provided the perfect ambience. My only suggestion would be is to include a small food menu. Although they did provide small snack packs of cheese and nuts, we found that even a larger charcuterie board or flat bread pizzas would’ve been better. We went around lunch time and because we didn’t want to drink on an empty stomach, we ended up leaving sooner than we liked. We did however take a few bottles home with us .

We were at Lake Chataqua in July, picked out this winery based on reviews and proximity. I mistakenly thought we could look around and have a nice tasting. We were greeted at the counter by a young lady who could not care less that we were there. We bought a couple bottles after tasting, but she could care less that we were there. It took me 6 months to write this as I do not like to give bad reviews, but every time I sit down for a glass of wine this bad experience pops into my head.

Thank you for writing, as well as your reluctance to share a poor review. We pride ourselves on our customer service and appreciate your feedback. I don't know as our staff were wearing masks during the time of your visit? But we do know that masks can muffle our greetings, especially with our quieter employees. We will be sure to discuss with our tasting room staff. We hope that you enjoy your next glass of wine without this reminder—and that you give us another try. If you are back in the area, please email retail@johnsonwinery.com and we will send you tasting passes for a return visit. Happy New Year!

For us, this is THE winery to visit. They have a impressive selection of wines, friendly, courteous, helpful staff and competitive prices. If you're buying to give wine as gifts or simply restock your wine cellar you can get a 20% price discount if you buy any 12 bottles!

We couldn’t have been happier with the customer service at Johnson Estate. My family decided to begin our morning with a winery walk around the vineyards. Mary immediately greeted us at the door with her infectious smile. She quickly engaged my two teenage daughters in our walk and made it into an adventure for them. Upon our return to the winery after the walk, we were welcomed into a tasting garden where we enjoyed flights of wine, grape juice for my daughters, and a charcuterie board for us to share. They even brought our dog water and treats. Mary and the other staff made it a special point to talk to us and make us feel welcome. We had wonderful, charming conversations, and were amazed at the friendliness and personal attention given to all of the customers. During a time when good customer service is hard to find, this winery excelled at it!

We had not been to Johnson Estates in several years and our bartender recognized us and we remembered him. Our tasting was delightful as always. We enjoyed everything we tried. We purchased the Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, toasted oak Chardonnay and maple Liqueur. The tasting is a bit pricey though the winds are not. You can easily find a bottle in the $15 range. They have sufficient parking and our handicap accessible. We will be back!

A large variety of wines to taste! There are two types of tastings, but both allow you to choose your tastes. Wines range from dry to sweet. Plenty for all. Ice wine tasting is extra, but it is well worth it. This winery grows nearly all of their grapes! I enjoyed an unoaked Chardonnay, a lovely light Pinot Noir, and a wonderfully unique dry Riesling. The Chambourcin ice wine was so flavorful.

Our server was knowledgeable, interesting, and generally an wonderful help.

I highly recommend a stop. Be ready to buy some! You're bound to find something to your liking.
