My family and I attended the Army-Lafayette game at Michie on October 15, 2016.....Fabulous weather, lop-sided score (Army 62, Laf 7 - and we were rooting for Lafayette), very entertaining, great traditions, but be careful!
1) The security entrance near the South End Zone (coming up from the Buffalo parking lot) gets VERY crowded around 11:30-12Noon for a noon kickoff....clearly not enough staff. Make sure you get to your seats early.
2) The seats in the front of the upper deck are excellent - We sat in U-11, Row C, about the 35-yard-line - Excellent! However, getting to them is not easy. There are ramps behind the home stands, but they are difficult to find, since most spectators enter on the visitors' side near the reservoir. Not well-marked.
3) Michie is not easy to find, unless you take a shuttle bus to the stadium. We attended the 9AM Cadet parade on the Plain, and had trouble finding our way to Michie. Campus is not terribly well marked, probably for a reason. Additionally, parking is spread all over campus.......anticipate some walking and climbing, on campus and near the stadium.
The parachutists, the cannons, the traditions - all wonderful! but not the easiest stadium to handle for a novice spectator.

My father travels in a wheelchair and the services provided at Michie Stadium were excellent. The handicap parking was ready with many wheelchair accessible buses that took us right to the gate closest to the wheelchair seating. The wheelchair seating had ample room for companions and was undercover to protect us from the 3 hours of rain.

If a visitor don’t spend a lot on tickets, you get stuck next to rotc brats, they slowly bleed into your section. The rules and regulations regarding good sportsmanship does not apply to them and why should it they watch for free and live there, not pay $300 for 2 tickets and travel over 3 hours to watch them boo and spit on visiting team. Home side empty yet they stick them on visitors. The on-site teen security only corrects paid guests but ROTC “out ranks them” exact quote so if I don’t like it I can get head of security. Buy cheapest seats further side on left facing field visitors side, or don’t bother to go.

In my opinion even the most casual college football fan should make it a point to see a game at West Point. We try and attend at least one or two games a year. Arrive early (and if taking multiple cars arrive together) since parking is scattered throughout the grounds, there are shuttle buses to get you to the stadium. They are very accommodating as far as tailgating goes so bring your grill and coolers. Just be sure to leave the cars early to get to your seats to see the Army parachuting team land at midfield and the helicopter flybys. All seats are good inside the stadium, but the upper deck is high and steep which might cause a problem with older or height nervous people. It is a very family oriented experience at the game with no problems from over drinking fans. After the game start up the grills again and let the traffic subside, and always leave you tailgate site cleaner than when you got there. Always a truly memorable experience.

While the Army West Point football team is on the rise, there are other reasons to go to a game at Michie Stadium. First, you have to start early down at the parade grounds to watch the cadet parade. Bring snacks and drinks and have a tailgate in the parking lot. Go early to the game to watch the cadets march on and the parachute team jump in the game ball. You can pet the Army mule and watch the cadets file into the stands along with their company mascots.

Michie Stadium is on the grounds of the United States Military Academy at West Point. This is a fantastic place to watch a college football game. Seating capacity is 38,000 and I recommend getting upper deck tickets as close to the 50 yard line as possible. Seats are all aluminum bleachers so be sure to bring some seat pads or blankets, especially on cold days. Concession stands are located all over the stadium and are not at all expensive. $4 hot dogs, $4 soft drinks and $5 buckets of popcorn. It is an NCAA facility located on an active US Army Installation, so no alcohol sales within the stadium. Enjoy!

an expensive pink elephant, maintained under the illusion that football contributes money to a school. But carried to extremes, it really has nothing to do with the mission of the military academy.

View from seats is great, and that's where the positive stuff ends. Problem is getting into the stadium if you are not really fit. The tickets should be sold with a warning: if you are not young and/or very fit, do not buy tickets above ground level. The golf carts that help seniors up the hill don't take you to the entrance closest to the upper level seats. There are no elevators. The staff are rude, even to seniors - my father is an 80-year-old veteran and capable of walking without assistance but we could not get any help to get to the Upper Level seats he purchased. The woman at the First Aid station I inquired at told us there was no way to get where we wanted to go. When a nice cadet showed us how to get to an elevator, we were pushed away by a snotty guy in a suit with a walkie-talkie. Yes, he pushed aside an 80 year old veteran who was trying to get to his seat using the only elevator in the stadium, reserved for the elite "Press." Well wake up, Michie Managers. More of your supporters with money are getting older and you really ought to consider them in your plans. Have golf carts ready to ferry them to upper level entrances. Let them use the Almighty Press elevators. At the very least, send a warning when someone is buying a ticket that if they are buying above a certain level, there is no elevator or escalator.

An absolutely must see college football stadium experience. You can’t help but appreciate all the pageantry. From skydivers to cannon blasts. Very reasonable for food and drinks. Do yourself a favor and visit this stadium on the Hudson.

Will my two year old require a ticket to the game? He will be sitting on my lap.

I doubt you will need tickets for you two-year old, but I would call 877- (849-2769) to make sure.

According to the West Point visitor information website, visitors 17 years of age and above need a valid photo ID (e.g., a driver’s license that complies with the REAL ID Act) containing biographical information such as name, address, gender, eye color and height. Other acceptable primary forms of identification are:

Permanent Resident Card/Alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551).
Foreign passport with a temporary (I-551) stamp or temporary (I-551) printed notation on a machine readable immigrant visa.
Employment authorization document that contains a photograph (Form I-766)
U.S. Military or draft record.
U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Card.
Transportation Worker Identification Card.
Native American Tribal Document.
If you don't have any of these, check the website for alternatives or call the welcome center.

No, I am sorry. You may be able to sneak a granola bar or candy bar in a pocket, but no food or drink are allowed to be brought into the stadium.
Written November 12, 2019
I am sorry for the late reply, just saw your question. Yes, you can bring an unobtrusive folding stadium seat or cushion into the stadium.

The Stadium construction predates accommodation of persons with physical disabilities. But the Army Athletic Association does try to assist by having a handicapped parking lot and transport by bus and golf cart to Michie Stadium and tailgate parking lots. There are very few spaces where wheelchair-bound spectators can watch the game from within the stadium and most of the stairwells have only partial railing and often no handrails for steep stairs. I would recommend calling the Army ticket office and speaking to one of the associates for specific assistance.
