We arrived with only a vague idea of how to spend our time on the island and the nice people at the information centre helped us to make a perfect plan. They had lots of great information along with trip plans for numerous visit options.

get wet without lying against the dodgy wall tiles.
We love the island, but...More
This is fabulous if you want to see the whole island and spend a bit of time at a few different places. The bus goes every 30 minutes and stops at many places all over the island. You get off where you want and then...More

August is the winter season so less llikely to be dry but I don't think there is a lot of rainfall, and temperatures are still pleasant, possibly more suited for activities like cycling. More detailed info about the weather is easily found on Google. If I only had that time to visit, I'd still go.
Most people we spoke to got around and had a good look around the island. Sometimes they run a later boat, so if you check when you arrive you can opt for this but you need to check at the visitor section on the island.
