I should have contacted the Visitor Centre before planning our trip. Thought that there was little to do until arriving at the Centre and given plenty of information on local history sites and attractions in both Mullewa and Pindar. Great to meet a lady so enthusiastic and helpful and with evident pride in the area. Good range of souvenirs and gifts available for purchase.

We called in to the Mullewa information centre when on a wildflower tour through the region. The woman on duty was quick to tell us that unfortunately most of the local wildflowers were now past their peak, including those in town, but did give an enthusiastic description of and good directions to the roadside display of Wreath Flowers beyond Pindar. Also mentioned the old Pindar pub was doing lunches during 'the season' - a very good tip as we had a lovely light meal here. The information centre also sold various items of local handicrafts and foodstuffs such as jams and honey, as well as postcards, T-shirts and tea towels. We bought a very nice sample of the latter than featured a display of local wildflowers.

Called in to get some info on the local area and had a good chat with a most enthusiastic staff member who was able to provide us with some info on some short trips and points of interest around the town.
Thanks to the staff for their interesting information.

When to Mullewa community resource centre to get direction to wildflower. The young lady was most happy to give maps to Pindar wreath flower ( gods heavenly gift )and Coldstream nature reserve (wildflower heaven) . The young lady was so professional in her directions and local knowledge of all attractions in the area. Thank you for the wildflower booklet.
The wreath flower location was totally worth the time and travel to get there, a Coldstream reserve.

Until recently I hadn't visited tourist information centres in towns, now I won't miss anymore.

Today the lady in this centre gave details of Mullewa walks, the Pindar Heritage wreath area, historic Tenindewa railway siding and saleyards and how to get to the Coal Seam conservation park - handed me a map showing all these areas.

It's worth stopping at Tenindewa for a photo shoot, while there I saw one of many road trains with four "dogs" on the rear.

Pindar stands out with the Heritage Wreaths - it is located about 10 kms from the main hwy although the dirt road is quite rough and I had to slow right down.

The roadsides from Mullewa to Coalseam are lined with many varieties of wildflowers showing their best. If you return to Geraldton via Walkaway from Coalseam there are even more varieties - definitely more photo opportunities.

If you are not a regular country or wheatbelt driver be aware of railway crossings - freight trains are regular - slow down just in case a train appears.

Enjoy your wildflower exploring in the Mullewa area.

I was pleasantly surprised by this information centre.
The town is very much geared towards tourism and as such has excellent brochures and signage designed to help the tourist make the most of their visit to the centre and lovely friendly town.

We arrived on a Monday early afternoon and it was closed! We had to go visit the information board on the out skirts of town to find places of interest.
