About
Singlefile’s dedication to making exceptional wines is paralleled by its commitment to the Great Southern region. Singlefile’s estate in Denmark offers guests an engaging tasting experience at its cellar door with a range of premium wines that are made as naturally as possible, allowing the nuances of the environment to shine through. If you'd like to take your tasting experience to the next level, please enquire about 'A Sense of Place' Private Tasting Tours. The team warmly welcomes guests seven days a week and encourages visitors to wander through the beautiful grounds, where they may come across the resident family of geese walking in single file. For the fourth time since 2013, Singlefile was named the 2020 winner of Gourmet Traveller Wine’s ‘Star Cellar Door’ of the Great Southern, and in 2015, 2017 and 2018 Singlefile won Gourmet Traveller Wine’s ‘Best Tasting Experience’ in the Great Southern.

I went back to sample Singlefile, after quite some years. It might suit you, but it's not my idea of a good wine-tasting visit. The grounds and public building are beautiful and comfortable. But. The tasting area is small, and I was guided (as were most other guests) to tables to be seated and await service. Despite the very large range of wines that Singlefile boasts (check their web site), the tasting card offered only a very limited selection. I expressed my interest in looking at whites, not reds, but only two whites were available for tasting. I was poured a tasting of a rose, as, perhaps, some sort of compromise. There was no conversation available about the wines, the different ranges (check their web site), the winemaking philosophy, or the questions of provenance, terroir, treatment and blending that make a winery visit interesting. You sat at your table until someone else came by to offer you a taste of the next item on the tasting card. There were not even tasting notes provided. The only conversation about the wines themselves I was favoured with was when I was contradicted about their being fruit-driven in various degrees ("They are all dry," I was told flatly). Quotations from James Halliday abound, but he must have been there on a better day, and been shown a much broader selection of wines. The most extensive information on the tasting card was how much cheaper you could buy each wine at the various membership levels of their cellar-door club. Huh. I sat for a little while at my table, mostly neglected by passing staff, certainly not in conversation with someone who knew the wines. I soon left. All of what I now missed in the experience had been featured in my previous visit. Perhaps it all works well for Singlefile as a business model; it did not work at all for me. I'm no James Halliday, but I like a friendly chat about the wines with someone who knows them.

Loved this little cozy winery. We sat in two big comfy chairs right by the fire place, a lovely Canadian lady came over and offered us some tastings right there in our seats! She started off with a sparkling, worked thru some whites and finished with the reds. We felt right at home and could have stayed the whole afternoon! We had our small dog with us, and at first had just asked if we could carry him thru to the outside area but she said we were welcome to sit him down in-between our chairs (he is very well behaved and sits/lies very still!). When we left she also let us know that we could have brought in a little platter ourselves to enjoy a glass of wine with. There is also a beautiful outside area with picnic tables scattered about. A fantastic experience and will defiantly return next time we visit Denmark!

Very friendly and knowledgeable staff made a sit down wine tasting a very enjoyable experience. We were in front of a lovely open fire in a quite intimate environment which made it a bit more special than the usual Australian counter based push and shove wine tastings we’ve had before. And the wine was very good as was the coffee!

We stopped by hoping for a quick tasting and a bite to eat, not realising they don’t serve food. We were seated for the tasting which was great and the wines we tasted were good but it was very slow and we didn’t have time to taste everything. We saw others bringing their own food in, which is a great idea, we just were aware as we hadn’t planned our visit in advance. The staff were friendly and seemed knowledgeable and we did buy some of the wines so I’d recommend, but only if you’re not in a hurry.

We visited on a busy Saturday in December and were impressed from the minute we drove up to the beautiful winery and cellar door. We were met with a friendly welcome and despite being a family group of 8 we were promptly seated and well looked after.
Great range of wines and information and we just wish we had more time.

A really nice property and cellar door. Well known for their high achieving Great Southern Riesling and very good Chardonnay. Unfortunately, their top shelf Riesling was sold out, but I must make particular mention of the Run Free Serendipity Cuvée (lovely, sumptuous, great value at 28 bucks & the 2021 Run Free Chardonnay at 25 bucks, also really nice, and worth cellaring for a few years). “Jo” our hostess was very pleasant and engaging. A very nice experience, on the leather couches, in front of a mild fire. I really enjoyed two wineries in Denmark, this one and Forest Hill, both must visits for wine buffs.

Meghan at Singlefile wines in Denmark WA spoilt us with wonderful wines during our recent visit. Her attentiveness, knowledge and bubbly personality are an asset to Singlefile. Their wines are superb and the box of 12 arrived today with the usual personalised handwritten note. Can’t wait to get back down there! Thanks so much.

Hello Paulastperth! It's great to hear you enjoyed your time with Megs in the Cellar Door. We always love when our Wine Club members join us for an afternoon of wine and catching up. We trust those wines have landed safely in your Cellar now for a few years of resting. ;) See you again soon, The Team at Singlefile Wines

After trying a glass of Singlefile Chardonnay at Ajar restaurant I had to find this winery.
Luckily not too far down the road!
We settled in for a wine tasting and loved everything on the menu . Missed the ladies name who served us but she was amazing . Super informative with great banter .
Getting a few bottles , some great pictures and a greeting from Bella (gorgeous dog) our day was made .
Will definitely drop by again !

When we went down to the southern coast of Western Australia, we were not even aware they had wineries in the area. So what a wonderful surprise to find this hidden gem! The setting of the winery was lovely and we were welcomed warmly. I lost count of how many wines we tasted (for free), by our friendly server Zala. We left with a couple, and it would have been more were we not constrained by airplane baggage restrictions. Do yourself a favor if you are in the area and visit this winery!

We were met at the door and shown to a table and given our tasting glasses and water. We had two lovely, knowledgeable ladies go through a list of their wines and we got to taste every one of them and a couple,e of special ones that weren't on the list too! They were all so good. The winery was on a hillside with beautiful gardens and a small lake, such a lovely setting. If they had served food we probably would have stayed all afternoon! We were told they suggest you take a picnic with you..next time we will😊 would not hesitate to recommend this place...just lovely.
