Approach slowly, enjoy the surroundings along the unsealed road. There's lush pasture with sweeping views of the Southern Ocean, coastal Karri forest, and then the high lookout point from which hang gliders launch. Ease your way down the winding road to the actual beach where...More
My partner and I decided to go fishing at a beautiful beach called. Shelley Beach not far from Albany /Denmark
Its roughly 20 mins drive from Albany on the Lower Denmark.
Upon arriving ready to get everything set up we noticed a family of Humpback...More
Shelley beach is part of national Park and costs 13 dollars entry to drive in, the gravel track when we visited was very tough for a 2wd with lots of bumps and vibrations. Once you get to the beach tho it is all worth it...More
The beach car park was full (lot of campers) so we went to the lookout which was very nice. There is a wooden platform you can sit on and just soak in the view. The platforms are actually for hand gliders etc.
Shelley Beach can be found in West Cape Howe National Park where Torbay Head is located, the most southerly point in Western Australia. When we visited, the water was the most beautiful turquoise blue colour, but clear to see through from the lookout above. A...More
You can get there without a 4x4, just drive slow because the road is quite bumpy due to tractor tires

Manly lunch suggestions ($10 - $15) (5 Replies)
Any suggestions for a spot to have lunch near Manly Beach weekday? Budget is $10 - 15 per person for a main course, with drinks etc. extra. Like to be near the beach, either open air or soft/casual style indoor seating. Have two boys aged 4 and 9 who are happy with bbq/grills, pasta, toasted sandwich type meals. We're visiting Manly via ferry next Wednesday 4th Nov 2009, spending time on the beach, and hopefully walking to Shelley Beach as well.

Hi penanghill, You do have a few options available. a) if you are walking to Shelley Beach there is a fab restaurant half way along the walk overlooking the rockpool at pretty Fairy Bower Beach called the Bower Restaurant. However, the cost is approx $20 - 25 ahead. The views are glorious. b) Walk to Shelley beach - next door to the Le Kiosk Restaurant is a small cafe which serves very reasonable meals (casual ) - plus you have the added advantage of being on the waterfront - your...More
Sydney Harbour Ferries (11 Replies)
Will be in Sydney for 3 days( mid week )in April and would like suggestions for a good day itinerary using public ferries. What sights would you reccommend. Would like to hope off for a lunch and general sightseeing. We will be leaving from Circular Quay. Also, how far is Shelley Beach from the Manly ferry terminal? Have heard Le Kiosk is worth a visit? Appreciate any suggestions. Thank You

Whales (5 Replies)
Last weekend (16/17th August), we took the short hike from Shelley Beach, just north of Bunker Bay, around Cape Naturalist. We spotted three Humpbacks, mother and calf and a separate single animal. As we hiked we saw tail flukes, breaches....pretty nice. So they are there already. The early wildflowers, mostly whites and yellows, are blooming well too. There was about 30 New Zealand fur seals basking in the water. So if you 're in the Dunsborough area, Its definitely worth getting out there...More
