- tangstakeSawtell, Australia187 contributionsStunning swimming spotThis is a stunning calm beach - clear water, white sand, well protected by an outer reef and the surrounding boulders. Perfect for a dip and a few lazy laps. Even if you don’t swim, recommend a visit to enjoy the stunning outlook, stroll around to Elephant Rocks and generally admire the scenery. Note there is no running water here and no bins.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 27, 2024
- Kent AStockholm, Sweden431 contributionsA wonderful place for swimming and relaxingA wonderful place for swimming and relaxing. Surrounded by rocks, a natural pool forms in the center. Surrounding view is breathtaking high mountain and high waves all around is a magnificent sight. Good parking, relatively easy to get down (a bit harder going up). Toilets are available and when we were there there was both one selling ice cream (very good) and Shuhsi.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024
- BronteBucketHarrogate, United Kingdom1,462 contributionsVery inviting waters at Greens Pool, William Bay National ParkA stunning bay, sheltered from the ocean by a ring of rocks making it perfect for a swim. The water is a beautiful colour and looks so inviting, even on a cloudy day. It is round the corner from Elephant Rocks so easy to visit on the same trip. Great place for families to come and spend time in the water and on the beach.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 17, 2024

Gorgeous place to explore even during Winter. We watched the sunset over the edge of the beach and rocks... I imagine this place is popular during the summer as it seems a safe bay for families even with the large rocks that would be ideal to stay on ...

When we read that this is one of Australia’s best beaches it was one we did not want to miss. Although a little cold and cloudy the day we visited it did not disappoint absolutely beautiful. Make the effort and go!

Beach is amazing! Safe swimming and great for exploring with kids. Parking can be a nightmare if the weather is good, there are no bins and the food truck (Katz and Dogs) is overpriced and very slow service. Best to eat before/after.

Before arriving at William Bay, I was surprised by the huge number of car parking spots.
The beach is very picturesque and would be great for families and young children.
The swimming area is protected by an outer ring of granite boulders and the water is sparkling and clean.
During the summer period, I would imagine this beach would be packed out with families.

This was a beautiful beach and great for the family. The wind had picked up when we went to visit and on the outer rocks you could see the waves crashing against them, inside the outer barrier of rocks however, was very calm. My daughter and I had a great time snorkeling around looking at the sea life. Visibility was great.
The Carpark is nice and close to the stair access but the popularity of the beach can make it a little difficult to find a park. Stairs are laid out to make access fairly easy.
There is also elephant rocks in the cove next to greens pool and water fall beach also in the same area but we didn't venture over on this occasion.

Everytime ive come to greens pool, its been qindy and too cold but an unusual 37 degrees had the locals sweltering and the snorkellers loving it. Not too many corally fish unlike other snorkelling gems on the coast of WA however we managed to swim over the top of a ray coming out of the cove. Take ur wetties or thermals to stay in the water longer. Be aware this is a spot highly advertised and is popular with tourists. If u dont want to walk 1km to greens, get there early. We walked 300 with our day gear on arrival at 8.30am. It doesnt get 5 stars bc of the lack of marine life. Loved it.

Beautiful beach. The pool is surounded by rocks and thias makes a safe and warm pool to swim in. We went there in early afternoon. We had tried to go in the morning but there was cars parked miles down the road and very crowded. Ice cream car in the parking lot.

Been many years since my last visit. DPaW have just finished the first 2 stages of an overhaul of the park. Great new road, heaps of parking, easy access to the safe beach for swimming. It was a bit cold today but the kids were in for their Swimming lessons and the beach was buzzing.

This place is an absolute must see when in Denmark!
Clear calm water sheltered by massive house sized smooth boulders.
It gets very busy in the car park so best bet to come early.
But it doesn’t feel crowded in the pools as this place is huge and everyone can find a spot.
Swim some laps, climb some rocks, snorkel or take a nap I loved this place.
Ice cream van in car park is a winner also

This place is truly amazing and is one of the best beaches in Western Australia, if not the world.
The water is so calm and it’s like being in a natural pool. If you are in the area then it’s definitely a must visit.
We went twice during our holiday and it was never to busy and there’s plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the beach and the pool.
The only downside is the parking, I never understand why there isn’t more parking at places like this? Surely it would prevent people from just abandoning vehicle everywhere. I would suggest getting there early, otherwise you are going to struggle to park, or have to park a fair distance away.
Great place, and we will be back.

Are dogs allowed on this beach or part of it?

I read that Greens Pool is closed in February, does anyone know if this is correct
Written January 6, 2020
It'ss a public place and part of the coastline so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be closed, however, I could be wrong!

I'm bringing my 70 year old parents. They can walk long distance but not very good with high staircases. Anyone with picture or description of the walk to Green Pools pls?
Written March 28, 2019
There are quite a few stairs. While not steep, they are not all of timber, but some made into the ground. These ones are sloping, and I found them difficult. I have dodgy knees, and wouldn’t have contemplated going down, but Green’s pool is just so inviting. So I went, but it was extremely difficult and painful. If they can walk long distances, though, they should be alright. There are benches to sit on at various intervals. If they really want to swim at a lovely beach, but do not think they can negotiate the stairs, the beach at Ocean Beach, Denmark is still very nice, and much easier to get to.

Greens Pool is in a national park so no hotel/motel there.

It's probably best to address this question to the Shire of Denmark. There would be issues to address, like maintaining public access, public liability, parking, etc. Best to get permission in writing, with a clear understanding of what you can and cannot do.

Is the road to Greens Pool bitumen
How easy is the access to the beach
Written January 21, 2015
Access to the beach is by means of well-constructed paths (with some resting seats and lookout platforms) and steps. It's well-maintained and very safe.
