The market was spaced out well in the context of coronavirus, however the market was quite busy and it was hard to maintain social distancing. That being said, there were enough interesting stalls and variety to wander through. Plenty of local produce to appreciate. Worth a visit.

The Castlemaine Farmers Market is held on the first Sunday of every month (except January) from 9 am to 1 pm.
Its just a short walk from the Castlemaine Train Station.
We had a short visit in Castlemaine prior to connecting with the historic Goldfields Steam Train.
An interesting market with lots of fresh and locally produced fruit and vegetables.

Must attend monthly market for us, to stock up on all locally made goods: we get all our relishes and pickles, fresh flowers, fresh pasta and local meat here. We always get Taste of the Orient chicken spring rolls for lunch....OMG, they are the BEST. Kids love the cake pops and free tastings from Pud.

There are traders offering quality produce and good value food but the total number of stalls is low and there is a lack of variety. 15 minutes suffices to view this market unless you stop to eat food from one of the food vendors (of which there is also a limited choice). In addition the market has shifted locations several times in recent months making locating it a problem.

The Farmers and Artist market are moving sites from month to month: at present in the IGA carpark and the Castlemaine South Primary School. The best location was when the two markets were combined in the one site in the middle of town. Unfortunately a few of the local shops canned this so the market had to move on.

Some delicious food to snack on while you browse, very friendly and helpful stall vendors. But only a very small market, only really worth it if you're nearby anyway.

We visited the market in Castlemaine on Sunday (the first Sunday each month except January) which takes place in a closed off section of Moyston Street in Castlemaine. It was the first time the Art and Craft market had combined with the Farmers market. It was lovely, the quality of craft and produce very high and tempting. The stall holders were extremely welcoming and friendly, it was a lovely atmosphere. There were buskers and street performers, and plenty of entertainment for children. It is a real asset for the town and a must for visitors in this welcoming community.

Great way to spend Sunday morning. True Farmers & Artists Markets on either side of the street. Lovely atmosphere. Good Music and not the 'wall to wall' people in larger urban centres. Castlemaine is an impressive town with a vibrant & active community & a large choice of things to do.

Good little farmers market, with an arts and crafts market across the street the day we were there. Worth a look, and pick up some great local produce while you're there.

A great outdoor event for food lovers. Flowers and live chooks available too. Also wine, food and emu oil skin care product are a must.
