Hired a Kayak for half a day from Hut 62 at Bennets Boatyard on Bryher. Most enjoyable. Good equipment and advice provided. Comfortable paddle over to the island of Samson, then explored from Rushy Bay Bryher, through the Tresco channel, sand bars, up to Cromwell's Castle and back. A great experience.

After hiring a two seat kyak for a couple of hours heading south to watch the seals playing in the sea we hired a 14ft motorboat for the day from Bennett Boatyard on our final day on Bryher - thankfully a day with a "quiet" sea. After being shown efficiently how to start the motor and other safety aspects the five of us were on our way to the uninhabited Samson - fabulous beaches and old ruins. From there over to New Grimsby Tresco stores to collect our picnic items then over to the beautiful St Martins' sandy Lawrence Bay. Parking the boat at low water using the anchor and line as shown to make sure the boat didn't disappear we walked over to the beautiful Great Bay for our picnic - one of the party even went for a swim on the almost empty beach. Returning to the yard via Bryher's Rushy Bay to watch the seals. A fabulous day and one we will repeat on our next visit this year. Highly recommended.

Hired a boat, turned up, welcomed and lifejackets on, asked to bring the boat back later, told to enjoy.
This is how boating should be and the scenery has to be seen to believed.
Brilliant trip in sheltered water around Tresco, St Martins and Bryher on a sunny day, absolute bliss.

We hired kayaks whilst holidaying on Bryher on a couple of occasions during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and everybody at the yard was extremely helpful. It's such a great experience to be able to get out on the water and experience the islands from a different perspective. 100% recommended.

I had an amazing summer staying on Bryher and working with Dan at Bennett Boat yard. The easy going pace on Bryher made for some lazy days in the sun and also plenty of time out on the water exploring on one of Dan's many boats and kayaks on my time off.
The Boat Yard had everything you would need for a great stay on Bryher either as a day visitor or for a longer stay and Dan always made sure that everyone was having a great time!

I'm getting around to writing this review after several excellent, valued and hastle free years using the facilities provided by the Bennett Boat Yard.

We started by hiring dinghies about 18 years ago and have used them year on year. Dan, Robyn and the gang do a great job of making boat hire easy, safe and most of all fun. even when the weather isn't behaving, there is simply nothing quite as much fun as messing around in boats.

From being able to hire simple old mirror dinghies and punts in the early years, you can now hire kayaks, inflatables, catamarans, punts AND all the fishing kit to go with it! With your own transport the Scillies really come alive - all you have to do is keep an eye on the tide (which is pretty easy to do since its the ONLY responsibility you'll have all day).

More recently we have used the Boatyard not just for hire but also to keep a boat of our own with a very good value (and useful) winter maintenance program.

We also rent some dry storage space for the bulkier camping kit that we use - it's certainly less hastle then bringing it with us every time!

We regularly see visiting sailors mooring in Green Bay and using all of the services that the Yard has to offer: hot showers, laundry, freezer space, rubbish & recycling, boat repairs, chandlery (nuts/bolts/paint/ropes), and safety kit.

If you're active and exploring family (like us) then you'll know you'll need a Bennett Boat Yard pretty much every time you go on holiday! I can't imagine a trip to the Scillies complete without visiting.

We stayed on St Martins for 6 days and on the penultimate day, rented a gaff rigged sailing boat from Bennetts. Everyone was really helpful, we were picked up from St Martins on time, given instruction on rigging the boat at Bryher and we were off. Despite a good forecast for the day, we were soaked by a rain shower within minutes!! But we were helped to ashore to warm up, and after a coffee at the local cafe, were on our way again for a tour around all the islands until 5pm. Nothing was too much trouble, we really felt looked after. Charts, flares etc were provided with our briefing, you just need to keep aware of the tides as the area has a lot of shallows.

Dan looks after our boat for us and offers exceptional service. He helped us to ship it over here, when we arrive it's always on a mooring. Any tips or advice he's always there. Superb thanks Dan.

Based on St Martins we were at the mercy of where the scheduled services were going to on the day, and there's only so many trips to Tresco and back that you want to do. So we hired an outboard dinghy which was brought over from Bryher and told to enjoy ourselves. Which we did; all day. Landings on Tean, St Helens, Northwethel, lunch at old Grimsby - how cool it is to arrive at the beach directly and go straight to Ruin Beach cafe - and we still had time to cross to Samson, moor and walk up the south hill, back up to Cromwells tower and back to St Martins. Best £90 I've spent in a while. Thanks Bennett's !!

We visited Bennett Boatyard in August 2015, originally wanting to book kayaks but after a chat with the guys there we opted for a 14ft motor boat.

This was our first time here and I honestly think that this is the best way to explore the islands around Bryher. With a full days hire we were able to visit St Martin's, Tean, St Helen's, Tresco and Samson. Being able to boat between the islands and 'park' on the beaches was great and you had so much freedom.

Everyone at the boatyard was friendly and so helpful, and showed us the ropes before we set off for the day.

I would recommend this for anyone coming to Bryher, its a fantastic was to see parts of the islands you might otherwise miss.
