Historic square full of school children

This is one of the larger squares in Pontevedra, surrounded by historic houses with a fountain at one end. We discovered it as we walked along the pleasant arcaded Rua dos Soportais. The larger central square area was full of school children when we visit which meant it was noisy and lively and we couldn't really wander around the square.

Found this randomly and sat here messing around while waiting for an instrumental band to start up at 20:00 hours.. the citrus trees are very nice as are the stone seats. I would guess the setting is very evocative for those evening sonatas but we got bored laughing at the other tourists after a while and went for a belgian beer and tapas in another part of town instead...

The largest concentrations of coats of arms in Pontevedra. It is a place kids love to play football. Not very handicap accessible

Former mediaeval livestock market

Large square with a lot of history, surrounded by historic houses and buildings with magnificent coats of arms. It’s past as a livestock market is illustrated by the large fountain at one end where cattle could drink.

Nice looking Square

The name of the plaza alludes to the commonly related tale that Pontevedra was reputedly founded by Teucer - a relative of Paris of Troy. There is not a lot to see but it is very appealing -- lined with granite buildings with arcades and a number of restaurants.

There are interesting places in this square that has a name that comes from a legend. I found it very typical of a small city and very cozy.
