Lovely Small Church

The Iglesias de la Virgen Peregrina is a lovely small church on one of the paths to Santiago. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

Beautiful church that also has a stamp for the pilgrims passport. You can also go all the way up to the top of the church for a small fee - although it can be a little dizzying!

My sister and I stopped here for mass, as we are walking the Camino. This place has a stamp for your credientials if you are doing the pilgrimage, and it is absolutely beautiful. We especially loved the virgin with her pilgrim hat. Mass time was 7:30.

Due to the round plan, it makes a different church. Just look uo when you are inside and you will understand how different to others church is this..

This is a lovely small church in the center of the historic area. Architectural elements are worth noting. Be aware that beggars like to stand outside, making the visit a little uncomfortable.

Delightful little chapel. As we went by in lat afternoon a Mass was being celebrated with a small cozy congregation. Very prayerful, precious environment. The dome is impressive as is the gothic structure. Very unique - like a church without a nave, only the sanctuary and the center of the transepts. We noticed it was closed in the afternoon; but... If you're around, you can enter for a few minutes (seconds?), it looks nice. We couldn't go up to the bell as it was too late so we're only talking about the church itself.

Our 2nd visit to the beautiful city of Pontevedra....whilst walking around this is one of the many lovely buildings, the small but intricately built Iglesia de la Virgin Peregrina, with it many arches and columns topped with twin towers and the shrine to La Virgin Peregrina.

This place is the first part of the old city you reach if you are coming in from the train station (or from the Camino). It is a lovely tall church that is a lot more "beautiful" than the larger, plainer cathedral next to it.

+ why intimate? because it's a very small church + well-maintained church + sacred ambiance - pew painful and not comfortable for the back and knees, and I am only 36 years old. In Asia, they have the shoulder rest and the part where you kneel foamed. - if you want to pray and does not want to be disturbed,... More
